MID LEVEL RIGGING ARTIST
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Liaising with concept artists and animators about the physical attributes and movements of characters
Drawing character sketches showing key movements
Articulating characters within environments, layouts and backgrounds
Creating joints and moving points to rotate and pivot
Designing, testing and maintaining character set ups
Ensuring character movements are fluid, free of glitches and believable
Writing MEL scripts to customize software to specific animation requirements.
Produce high-end rigs while meeting the performance needs of the series production.
This includes properly executing changes and notes from the Rigging Supervisor, Rigging Lead, and other key creatives on a project in a timely manner.
Working with animators to create user-friendly characters
Establishing logical system of file creation for use within the course of production
Developing tools and plug-ins to optimize animation
Facial target modeling
Following established character setup procedures
Identifying issues and following through with enquiries
Testing rigs and ensuring they hold up in animation
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Exp: 1-2 years; Mid Level Rigging Artist Experience 1-2 years experience Responsible for adding controls to digital characters.
Must have a good understanding of shapes, compositions, physical motion, weight and balance.
Must be open to direction and able to embrace change.
Should be able to work with other departments.
Must be able to create rigs for simple to medium level textures.
Artists should thrive under the pressure of a deadline-driven environment and work as a team player.
