Roles and Responsibilities

Role of PAs in the OPDs

• Take medical histories
• Examine patients
• Write case summaries
• Assist in interpreting laboratory tests like X-rays, ECGs, ultra sonogram
• Echocardiogram, Treadmill tests, pulmonary function tests etc.,
• Counsel patients
• Assist in interpreting and reporting coronary angiograms and various other interventional procedures done in catheterization laboratories.
• Assisting in Preventive Health programs

Role in the Wards and critical care units:

• Take rounds
• Help in managing emergency situation until the arrival of the specialist
• Record progress notes
• Assist in carrying out therapy under the supervision of a specialist

Prepare discharge summaries
