Roles and Responsibilities

As a Network Engineering and Planning Team Manager (Chapter Lead), you will

  • Join Network and Product Engineering groupin the company.This group is responsible for setup of scalable engineering framework, assurance labs and delivery of network software of strategic/legacy technologies in access and core of telecom networks including but not limited to PSTN, Wireless, IP/MPLS, Broadband, and SDN/NFV.
  • Get engaged in a strategically important role within the company where you will be working closely with the Chapter Area Lead to understand and plan workforce capability needs both current and future. Through your initiative work you are critical contributor in ensuring that the network delivers a superior network experience for our consumer and business customers. Your work ensures the connection between platforms, applications, services and products provides a seamless experience that drives competitive advantage.
  • As a chapter lead you combine your passion for building individual and team ability with your technical expertise to do the following:
  • Model a culture of collaboration and continuous learning to support development of technical and non-technical capability within the Chapter
  • Coach and develop chapter members to enable them to deliver high quality platforms, applications, services and products, providing support and feedback along the way.
  • Mentor team members to build capability, resolve challenges and instil a growth and continuous improvement mindset
  • Mentor team members to build a resiliency mindset, ensuring the people, processes and systems are planned and delivered with resiliency baked-in
  • Encourage active understanding, adoption and reinforcement of the values and how they contribute to a high performing environment and high performing teams
  • Manage mission resource allocation, including recruitment and/or selection, to ensure capability required is available and resourcing issues are mitigated in collaboration with Group Owners priorities and delivering on stakeholders requirements
  • Be hands-on to missions/projects technically
  • Manage Chapter Team resource allocation to ensure that capital and operational expenditure goals are met or exceeded across the chapter and in line with Group Executive targets
  • Ensure Chapter members have appropriate skills and are developed in the direction of the Group and Chapter Area vision to deliver against company priorities in the short, medium and long term
  • Collaborate with Chapter Area Lead, Principal Chapter Leads and other Chapter Leads to determine and implement tools/common practices to be used by Chapter Members
  • Act as a champion and exemplify the ways of working mindsets and practices for all teams in which you participate
  • Identify opportunities to innovate and create new engineering approaches to improve chapter efficiency
  • Ensure that Agile and Scrum principles are being followed by delivery teams properly
  • Interact with managers and members of cross-functional teams in India and Australia
  • Responsible for managing team of engineers in ICC - their work allocation, timeliness and quality of delivery
  • Responsible for goal setting and performance appraisal of engineers
  • Coordinate with partners to select right-skilled partner resources for projects
  • Coordinate the on-boarding of partner resources and making them productive
  • Follow-up on SOW creation, SOW amendments, submission of timesheets, cross-checking the invoices etc.
  • Manage outsourced projects to partners

Desired Candidate Profile

  • 12+ years of experience in delivery of products for Telecom Networks
  • Excellent understanding of Telecom products, solutions and Network applications
  • Detailed knowledge of radio propagation, path prediction and survey techniques as applied to mobile communication systems.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Radio Access Networks, operations and facilities.
  • Detailed knowledge of antenna design and air interface standards
  • Detailed knowledge of the requirements to Plan, Design, Integrate, Optimise and develop Radio Access Networks
  • Detailed knowledge of RF technologies :
  • Detailed knowledge of Radio Access Network technologies (5G, 4G & 3G)
  • Detailed knowledge of the RF requirements to provide network solutions.
  • Experience in delivering projects using Agile and Scrum principles
  • Excellent people management skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with RF modelling tools including Atoll
  • Experience with Ericsson Network Manager
  • Experience of Ericsson RF Hardware and tools
  • Experience with Truecall
