Job Description
Carrying out maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment. Performing periodic inspections on plant, machinery and automated systems. Scheduling planned and preventive maintenance work. Ensuring that machinery and equipment are kept in good working order. maintenance tasks performed by mechanical maintenance engineers can be divided into two types: time-based maintenance (also known as planned, scheduled, preventive or routine maintenance) and unplanned maintenance (also called unscheduled, corrective, reactive or breakdown maintenance).
In time-based maintenance, the mechanical maintenance engineer performs maintenance checks at regular intervals and acts preventively to avoid situations from arising that may compromise the proper functioning of machinery and equipment, e.g. replacing worn components, lubricating gears, motors, pumps and mechanical moving parts, changing out dull tools, calibrating instruments and replacing filters, gears, valves, tubes and cables.
A specific sub-group of time-based maintenance is known as predictive maintenance, which is based on the expected life span of an item of machinery or equipment. Predictive maintenance aims to prevent unplanned downtime by ensuring that components are replaced before their expiry date. To achieve this aim, maintenance is performed according to a schedule, which is typically set by the maintenance manager.
Roles and Responsibilities:
To attend routine breakdowns and any kind of Maintenance (Electrical, Instrumental and Mechanical) work during all shift this include check list, maintenance, development & project work.
To inform immediate superiors about shift maintenance work being carried out during shift
Inform the supervisor for any major work which is beyond your control especially during night shifts.
To carry out Maintenance (Electrical, Instrumental and Mechanical) work during course of shutdown as per instructions given by superiors.
To check operations/functions of the Maintenance (Electrical, Instrumental and Mechanical) equipments for smooth running of equipment & inform any abnormalities to superiors for necessary action.
To record all required relevant working condition data of the Maintenance (Electrical, Instrumental and Mechanical) equipments during shift and maintained maintenance register.
Perform to complete preventive maintenance work of manufacturing process and utility Maintenance (Electrical, Instrumental and Mechanical) equipments.
Obtain necessary work permit from concern department before starting any maintenance work.
Complete the preventive maintenance work as per the planning within stipulated time. With prior permission from his superiors.
Take all safety precautions before start any maintenance.
Use appropriate PPE while performing job/task.
To ensure all process and utility equipments area/location shall be clean and good housekeeping is maintained.
To inform safety department for any unsafe condition noticed.
Follow discipline during working shift.
To inform superior about any engineering spares requirement in the engineering stores.
Involve for awareness among subordinates about new equipments or new system before installed.
Handover charge to reliever for any pending work before shift end.
