Job Description
Must to have skills
Should possess a minimum of 8 years of experience in Linux environment.
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
Must be a team player and should be able to mentor/build skills of subordinates.
Boot process Management and Troubleshooting techniques. Should be proficient in task Scheduling and scripting.
Linux OS Management/Administration.
Package management and troubleshooting
Solid understanding and work experience in configuring and administering Sendmail, Qmail, Postfix, Exim, Zimbra, etc.
Understanding on Storage systems and mechanisms like NAS, SAN, iSCSI, etc.
Experience on configuring Storage on Linux and configure Clusters.
Squid Proxy server installation, administration and fine tuning.
Knowledge and vast experience on SquidGuard, DansGuardian and SARG
Hands on experience in handling Linux OS Clusters compulsory (ex. RHCS, ServiceGuard, etc)
Knowledge on Linux based load balancers like Heartbeat-LVS.
Good understanding and hands on experience on Multipath softwares.
Good to have skills
NFS to import/export file systems. Device Management.
Strong knowledge on LVM, File systems and RAID. fdisk, parted, tune2fs and e2fsck
System Resource monitoring, management and log file interpretation.
Problem Determination and Resolution.
Must be Strong in Backup and Recover Procedures.
Should have expertise to write scripts for critical activities in shell scripting. Perl and Python are advantages.
Solid understanding of DNS (Bind 9), Apache/Tomcat, Samba, FTP, VSFTP
LAMP servers, HTTPS, OpenSSL, Verisign/Entrust certificate implementation, etc.
Able to build and implement any Open Source Package.
DHCP/NFS/Booting Concepts ,Kernel re-compilations, tweaking.
Understanding on Opensource databases will be added advantage.
Should have worked on OEM Servers.
Work Experience on Linux Security - TCPwrapper, IPtables and SELinux
Experience on Opensource Virtualization, LDAP services will be value add.
Experience on configuring opensource tools for monitoring the servers. Eg Nagios.
Network, ROUTE, NIC bonding, etc.
Should be familiar with accessing and mounting LUNs in Linux.
Knowledge about Webmin, ILO, DRAC, cPanel, etc.
VMWare, KVM, OCS, etc. will be additional advantage.
VxVM, VCS, etc. are additional advantage.
Good to have experience on migration projects.
Should be capable of doing Alert reduction activities, Capacity plan, Service Improvement Plan, etc.
Experience on Patch management using RPM, YUM, RHN, Spacewalk, etc. is a must.
Knowledge on AIX, Solaris, HPUX, AS400 are added advantage.
Good understanding about the internals of Web servers, Middleware applications, Database servers, etc. is must.
Should be familiar with Networking stuff and tools like IPCS, TOP,
tcpdump, nmap, Wireshark, SSH, Telnet, SMTP, netstat, netcat, etc.
