Lead Software Engineer - (SQL server Power BI) @ Gartner

About the Role

• Gartner is looking for well-rounded and motivated leaders to join the Conferences Marketing Intelligence & Analytics team.
• Candidate must have a proven record of successfully leading the BI & analytical team, taking a lead role in designing, implementing, and evolving innovative capabilities tailored to solve complex scenarios and provide advanced data insights to Gartner Marketing teams.
• You will be responsible for managing the team and execution of our data strategy through the design and development of Data platforms to deliver varied and complex Reporting, BI, and Analytics solutions.
• The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for managing and implementing End to End BI projects using MS SQL Server And Power BI tools on the Azure platform.
• Additional responsibilities include monitoring existing processes, analyzing and resolving system issues in a proactive way.

What you ll do:

• Lead a team of 3-5 engineers responsible for the operations and delivery of all global marketing reporting platforms at Gartner.

• Team Lead on Gartners Marketing reporting applications and ensure 24x7 availability for the critical processes.

• Partner with business teams to provide the best technology recommendations for their reporting needs.

• Execution of our data strategy through design and development of Data platforms to deliver Reporting, BI and Advanced Analytics solutions.

• Design and development of key analytics capabilities using MS SQL Server, Power BI , T-SQL, SSAS tabular modeling, and DAX on Azure Platform.

• Consistently improving and optimizing T-SQL and SSAS tabular models to achieve peak performance across the entire analytics platform.

• Analyzing and solving complex business problems, breaking down the work into actionable tasks.

• Develop, maintain, and document data model, data dictionary and data flow diagrams

• Ensure code integrity standards and code best practices.

What you will need:

• Bachelor s degree in the field of computer science, information systems, or computer engineering.

• 8-11 years of experience in the Design and Development of E2E BI & Analytics projects in a global enterprise environment.

• 2-3 years hands-on Strong T-SQL Experience (Root Cause load failures and fix; Hierarchical Query building; ability to review an existing T-SQL code block and quickly figure out code issues)

• Strong technical experience with MS SQL Server, T-SQL, Power BI, DAX.

• Proficient in Data warehouse design and BI application development

• Deep understanding of writing SQL code and DAX functions.

• Experience in Cloud Platforms, Azure technologies like Azure Analysis Services, etc. will be required.

• Experience working with dataset ingestion, data model creation, reports, dashboards, etc.

• Demonstrated Ability to use GIT, Jenkins and other change management tools.

• Good knowledge of database performance and tuning, troubleshooting and query optimization.

• Excellent troubleshooting skills, self-motivated, results-driven and well organized.

• Demonstrate proven track record in addressing moderately complex technical issues

• Fact-driven and analytically minded with excellent attention to detail.

• Ability to lead a team or work independently, proactively, in a fast-paced AGILE-SCRUM environment.

• Strong ability to handle a heavy workload with multiple projects and frequent interruptions in a dynamic environment

• Excellent Communication and Prioritization skills.
