The Mechanical Engineer performs various design activities and provides technical expertise for executing contract requirements and supporting proposal development for pyro-processing equipment and systems, including preparation of the necessary technical data to enable procurement and installation of pyro systems equipment, review of the contract requirements, selection of equipment designs, preparation of required calculations and specification documents, and review and release of drawings as they are prepared.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Produce technically sound designs that meet the contract requirements, good engineering practices and meets the customers needs, and/or solves problems.

• Provide information, guidance, and assistance to the mechanical drafting personnel for the production of drawings. Review drawings for accuracy, including mechanical equipment drawings as well as Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams.

• Produce work within the allotted hours and material budgets, working within the allotted schedule.

• Effectively coordinate work with other groups within the company.

• Provide timely information to others and reviews other disciplines work to ensure it is compatible with the mechanical design and meets contract requirements.

• Show a commitment to quality ethics and a focus on meeting the needs and expectations of both internal and external customers.

• Observe safety regulations and exhibiting a concern for safety.

• Assist in development projects.

• Communicate effectively with the customer and keep the customer advised periodically on the status of the work. Deliver promised information as indicated.

• Produce technical specifications for material purchase that are accurate and review vendor technical submittals for adequacy.

• Provide accurate technical content for proprietary equipment Installation, Lubrication, and Maintenance manuals.

• Maintain awareness of current state-of-the-art technologies and trends in mechanical engineering and suggest product improvement ideas.

• Travel (up to 10-15%) may be required as needed, including both domestic and international.

• Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or related (or equivalent training/experience).

• Minimum 5 years of experience in the mechanical design and specification of heavy-duty industrial equipment. Experience in structural design is a plus.

• Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office Products.

• Experience with AutoCAD Mechanical is required; experience with Autodesk Inventor is a plus.

• A Professional Engineer license is a plus.

Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of machine design including static and fatigue loaded structures, material selection, and power transmission.

• A basic understanding of electrical power and controls is desirable.

• Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office Products, AutoDesk Inventor, and AutoCAD Mechanical.

• Excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills are required as the job incumbent will have frequent interactions with both internal and external customers and suppliers.

• Must be able to effectively discuss, explain and coordinate designs with drafters and other disciplines cross-functionally.

• Must be able to function effectively both as a member of a team and as an individual contributor.

• Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted with minimal supervision.

• Highly motivated individual with the ability to work under stress and meet tight deadlines.

• Must be capable of effectively and accurately working on several projects at one time.

• Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms, and effectively communicate with others.

• Occasionally required to stand, walk, and climb or balance.

• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, including climbing up and down multiple flights by way of stairs or ladders when working in the field.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• Visual acuity is required to read and produce accurate engineering materials.

• Required use of keyboards, telephones, copiers, fax, visits, and movement through shops, and travel experiences.

• Ability to react to audible warnings.

• Valid Driver s license and Passport for local and international travel.
