Job Description

Construction contract managers help to win building contracts. They also help to control costs and keep construction projects on track. Projects can include everything from commercial and residential developments to road and rail engineering works.

If youre good with numbers and IT and can pay close attention to detail, you could find a career as a construction contract manager very rewarding. To do this job, you will need experience in the construction industry, although you may be able to get in if you have a background in contracting and managing projects in other sectors.

Strong collaboration skills are the bedrock of solid contract management. contract managers work with many different groups of individuals, both internally and externally, as contracts touch many different business areas. A good contract manager (CM) will effectively collaborate with all parties during the creation and revision of these contacts.

The CM often works with subject matter experts to understand and focus on certain details. Other times, they work with their counterparts and outside contacts to resolve issues, monitor performance, or propose tweaks to the agreement.
