Job Description

Duties The incumbent heads a team responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of all of Posts telephone and emergency radio systems, including cabling with and between the various U.S. government buildings in Mumbai. The Senior Telephone and Radio Technician supervises one junior Telephone and Radio Technician and two Telephone Operators. Ensures 24-hour serviceability and accessibility of Posts telephone facility. The Posts telephone exchange is made Avaya CS-1000 and Norstar digital switches, associated wiring closets, terminal boxes, cable runs, phone, consoles, answering machines, etc. The technician installs, relocates and/or modifies telephone and radio systems, their associated equipment and cabling. The incumbent liaisons with local telephone, radio, Internet and cell phone companies to resolve any telecom related link outage. Is responsible for maintaining all aspects of Posts Emergency and Evacuation Radio Network. The incumbent is responsible for record keeping for Posts telephone and radio network and as advised by the supervisor.
