Senior Data Scientist I - Bengaluru/Bangalore @ Delhivery

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Identifying and understanding problems across the business that can be solved using data and analytics

• Formulating and translating business problems in a way that can be solved using data

• Building and testing models / heuristics

• Communicating results of models and analyses in a way that can be easily understood by business managers

• Working with operational and other teams to translate data insights into business outcomes

• Occasionally building dashboards and reports to institutionalise models and processes

• Managing a small team of data scientists (largely statisticians and OR professionals)

Experience / expertise in machine learning is NOT relevant to this role.

Required Qualifications

We are looking for people who are excited by data, and excited by business, and excited in bringing the two together to create high impact. We are a fast-paced team, and expect quick turnarounds. Most of the problems we work on are ambiguous, and handling ambiguous problem statements and expectations is a key part of the role.

Key requirements:

• Strong mathematics and logic skills

• Very strong in R and MS Excel

• Deep knowledge of both operations research and statistics , and the ability to apply them to unstructured industry problems

• A passion for data and analytics

• Strong written, oral and visual communication skills

• Common sense, and an appreciation of common logical fallacies

• Proven ability to deliver end-to-end solutions to industry problems

• At least 4 years of relevant industry experience

• Masters / PhD degrees in a STEM subject from a top-tier institution (either in India or abroad). An MBA from a top-tier institution is a definite plus
