Job Description

 

The Functional Safety Engineer lead and coordinate all required functional safety engineering activities for the assigned projects. This function is reporting to the local manager of the Functional Safety Office.

The Functional Safety Engineer is responsible to execute safety engineering activities for platform and customer application projects related to HARMAN automotive product scope ADAS, Car Audio, Digital Cockpit and Telematics. The position holder is responsible to coordinate and to perform the engineering activities necessary to ensure that delivered products comply with the functional safety requirements from HARMAN s customer. This role will interact globally with different engineering disciplines for System, SW and HW development to achieve the mission of safe products.

The position holder is also responsible to support the Functional Safety Manager and Project manager for the risk management related to functional safety.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Take accountability for Technical Safety Concepts of the assigned projects
  • Moderate and support of technical inspections, confirmation reviews
  • Assess HARMAN automotive products at different development stages during the product lifecycle at peer-to-peer review
  • Report technical risks to the project manager and propose measure to mitigate the risks
  • Create survey of project safety plans
  • Report the evidence for a functional safe product by the safety cases
  • Support the project team to understand and implement the safety plan
  • Elicitation breakdown, document and review functional safety requirements with customer and other engineering disciplines and towards supplier.
  • Align the architecture for System, SW and HW to meet the functional safety requirements with the respective architects from the business units ADAS, Car Audio, Digital Cockpit and Telematics.
  • Support and execute of relevant quantitative and qualitative Safety Analysis (e.g. FMEA,FMEDA, FTA, HAZOP etc.,)
  • Determine the safety performance and based on safety analysis for target architecture
  • Derive and align the necessary verification and validation activities with the business units and central test teams or supplier.
  • Consult the internal and external customer for best fitting architecture also with respect to HW development cost targets fulfilling the safety requirements
  • Will act as safety analyst, reviewer and approver for the accommodated technical safety work products.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master or Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent,
  • 12+ years related technical experience in automotive system architecture SW and HW development or similar industrie
  • 3+ years in a functional safety management engineering
  • First experience in building and maintaining customer, supplier relationships
  • Proven, strong technical leading skills versus internal organisation and customer
  • Technical expertise in the area of functional safety (ISO 26262, ISO 21448, IEC 61508)
  • Capable of handling multiples projects / initiatives simultaneously and executing to completion
  • Knowledge in execution of System/SW/ HW analysis for functional safety
  • Knowledge in quantitative safety analysis like FTA, FMEDA
  • Drive for results, team player, change orientation, customer focus and self-awareness,
  • Excellent communication, presentation interpersonal skills,
  • Strong negotiation skills assertiveness

What is Nice to Have

  • Knowledge on ISO26262 product development at System and Hardware level
  • Familiar in use tool like Ansys Medini Analyze.
  • Knowledge of Project management, Quality management, Configuration and change management process
  • Familiar with tools IBM ALM/CLM, JIRA, confluence etc;
  • Knowledge on Tools confidence evaluation and qualification, Software qualification, Proven-In-Use arguments/reports, ASIL oriented analysis etc.,

  • Willingness to travel both domestic and abroad,
