Merchant Process Optimization Team:
PayPal s Global Professional Services teams deliver technical solutions, experience design, integration, and post-live technical services to drive product adoption and quality servicing to our customers.
The charter for the Merchant Process Optimization Engineering Team is to help streamline various processes that are integral towards a successful merchant engagement. This includes all phases of the merchant relationship lifecycle, right from onboarding, servicing, reporting, integration and the overall performance of the integration. The nature of initiatives that this team will work on will have a direct impact on the time to market for our integration, and hence help augment our revenue goals.
The Role:
Software Engineer 1
This position is for an entry level software developer role to work with teams across the globe building state of the art payment solutions and merchant experiences. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated individual with awareness of the core concepts and foundational knowledge of Computer Science who is also aware of industry trends, possesses a positive work ethic and a ""can do"" attitude. The prospective candidate will be working on multiple languages and platforms, devising and delivering solutions to the market, in a fast-paced manner. The role would involve building features and capabilities on merchant products and payment platforms that would redefine how customers of PayPal pay and get paid.
Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate a customer centric mindset as part of day-day work.
- Ensure that the implementation adheres to defined specs and processes.
- Own end-to-end quality of deliverables during all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Work with managers, leads and peers to come up with implementation options
- Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage continuously changing business needs
Technical Skills
- Strong computer science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms, database and object-oriented programming techniques.
- Strong programming skills and expertise in one of the scripting languages or object oriented programming languages.
- Good understanding of REST API s, Web Services, Unit Testing and build tools.
- Good understanding and hands on experience with databases such as MySQL/ Oracle etc.
- Rich object-oriented design and analysis skills working with databases such as MySQL/ Oracle / NoSQL DB etc.
Personal Traits
- Be a quick learner undaunted by new and complex systems.
- Take risks and thrive in an environment of constant change.
- Exposure and participation in tech events, hackathons, contributions to open source, authoring of blogs and active participation in online tech forums is a plus.
Educational Qualifications
- BSCS/MSCS or equivalent along with 0-2 years of experience in software development.
