Senior Research Analyst i - Automotive Components @ Markit

Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Research Components Analyst, within the Supply Chain and Technology Group to:

• Conduct primary and secondary research to identify technology specifications (current and future) and suppliers across various domains (chassis, powertrain, e-mobility, lighting, interior etc.), as well as the impact of automotive mega trends on these technologies.
• Maintain and enhance exisisting databases globally which track simple technology attributes (e.g. engine pistons forecast, torque converter forecast) and create new forecasts tracking technology trends and supplier information on various components (e.g. windows lift mechanism, emblem forecast etc.)
• Present findings/data via webinars
• Nurture a network of contacts at automotive companies, both OEM and Tier 1 suppliers to maintain and enhance the created forecasts.

Requirements

• Understanding of current and future trends in automotive technologies. Specific domain knowledge is not mandatory.
• Attention to details and high quality of deliverables
• Engineering background is desirable, OEM and/or Tier-1 relevant experience is a plus
• Demonstrated analytical and data interpretation skills with impetus on trend analysis
• Proficiency with MS applications required (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
• Understanding of database mechanics helpful but not essential, knowledge of basic database management tools would be preferred, e.g SQL, Access, Knime.
• Should demonstrate capability to handle large datasets and to liaise with data scientists internally to communicate and overcome issues
• Solid presentations skills and comfortable in client interactions
• Fluency in English, knowledge of another language would be considered a plus
