Job Description
Sr. Applications Engineer-Develop high performance power supply demonstrations that are beyond the norm
-Write white papers, application notes, and/or articles about the power supplies and technology
-Devise, and produce reports on, system level designed to show how NexGen products are aligned with customer requirements and new application use cases
-Conduct device and system tests, performance optimizations, and characterization
-Interface with customers and the business team to understand market trends and customer needs to create product roadmaps
-Provide technical support and trainings to FAEs and customer engineers globally
Skills / Knowledge
An ideal candidate should be an excellent team player and mentor to others while being capable of developing advanced power supplies, especially AC/DC power supplies. Such a candidate should be familiar with the typical design flow of a switching power supply. In addition, such a candidate should also be comfortable with modeling and designing the power supply and its critical components (i.e. controls, management, transformer, etc). Likewise, a candidate should be familiar with the typical testing requirements and methods of a power supply.
-BSEE degree or similar discipline required. Advanced degree desired.
-Hand-on experience in working with power PCB designs
-Experience in schematic tools for design capture and simulation
-Experience in layout tools for design layout
-Several years of experience working with or designing switching power supplies
-Familiar with power supply testing and regulatory requirements
-Familiar modeling efficiency and losses of a switching power supply
-Strong analytical, problem-solving, and hands-on skills
-Self-driven and thrives when facing open-ended tasks
-Good written and verbal communication skills
Additional Skills (desired)
-Knowledge of switching device characteristics and their affect in switching power supplies especially, Si and SiC MOSFETs
-Familiar with analysis tools and methods (i.e. Python-based scripting, MATLAB, etc)
-Knowledge of power applications in related fields (i.e. motors, inverters, etc)
-Excellent in English verbal and written communication skills
Experience & Education
The candidate must have 5 years of experience working with switching power supplies. The candidate must have participated in the design and qualification of power supplies. The candidate must be experienced in engaging with customers and clearly articulating the value proposition of our products in power supply applications.
The candidate must have at least a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, MS degree is preferred.
