Installs, upgrades, refreshes, and maintains all database environments.
Performs day to day database administrative tasks, such as: proactive monitoring, error checking, performance tuning, trouble-shooting, back-up and recovery.
Collaborates with project teams to set up database, database interface, and production set-up and configuration.
Manages user security and access to databases to provide controlled access environment.
Investigates, reviews, applies, and tests all patches and bug fixes in database environment and provide consultation on patch management, custom interface design and operational implementation.
Assists developers with logical database design, table layouts, indexes, and storage structures for optimal application design and performance.
Analyzes project needs, determines resources needed, and gives recommendations.
In compliance with regulatory requirements, moves software code from test to production environment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. Provides informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. May lead project teams and/or plan, and supervise assignments of lower level employees.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a related field such as information systems, mathematics, or computer science or equivalent work experience. Requires technical knowledge in multiple disciplines/processes. Typically has 5 - 7 years of relevant work experience.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
Relevant database certification preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.
FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Requires advanced knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and commissions. Conducts advanced financial analysis.

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires advanced analytical and quantitative skills.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES
Understanding of database techniques and strategies such as Mirroring, log shipping and sql replication.
