Job Description
Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer
In the role of Sr. Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the complete mechanical design of a space constrained power systems product, including thermal, global safety certification (UL, CE, CCC, etc. ) and reliability. You will work closely with the electrical engineering team and the marketing team to develop the product specification and design. You will work closely with the Systems Operations and EMS partner to put the power system into manufacturing.
Job Requirements:
Benchmark competitive thermal components, to define functional target and engineering specifications.
Design products using Solid Works and consult with electrical engineering and manufacturing team to ensure that designs are feasible.
Experience with injection-mold fabrication processes.
Develop and build mechanical prototypes and run tests to measure their level of function.
Select suppliers and their products for design evaluation and validate their products in systems to meet NexGens product specification and requirements.
In mechanical system design, perform worst case dimensional analysis, tolerance stack analysis, thermal analysis and structural analysis.
Analyze mold flow, part advisor analysis, finite element analysis, and stress/fatigue analysis on plastics.
Coordinate and conduct full system testing in the lab to verify and validate thermal management system, mechanical system functionality and reliability.
Knowledge of Engineering Standards, Materials, DFMEA, GD&T.
Perform thermal simulation and heat flow analysis in Solid Works.
Provide input in the creation of component specification, component DFMEA, and other technical design documents where analysis plays a central role.
Create detailed manufacturing specifications for NexGen products.
Examine, prepare and verify technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems, to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
Experience in the design and manufacturing of space constrained and thermally constrained systems
Experience in working with EMS partners to manufacture systems
Good knowledge in Tooling, fixture and jigs would be a plus.
Qualifications:
Engineering degree B.E, B.Tech or equivalent in mechanical or industrial engineering. M.E. preferred.
At least 15 20 years related engineering experience with specific experience in manufacturing and design.
Experience in manufacturing of system with EMS partner.
Preferred knowledge of IEC standards and documentation.
Fluent written and spoken English
Deep understanding of heat transfer, fluid mechanics and CFD theory.
Experience in electro-mechanics product development.
Skilled for thermal simulation tool experience, Solid works flow simulation and Icepack preferred.
Excellent presentation skills
