Job Description

A Restaurant Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Restaurant and its staff and has commercial accountability for planning, organizing, and directing all Restaurant services, including food and beverage operations and housekeeping.

While taking a strategic overview and planning ahead to maximize profits, the manager must also pay attention to the details, setting the example for staff to deliver a standard of service and presentation that meets guests' needs and expectations. Business and staff management are equally important elements. A manager should be proactive, self-motivated, and take initiative

Duties:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Restaurant including cleaning, floor plan layout, table settings, and theme of the Restaurant.
  • Hiring, training, supervising, promoting, and firing of staff. Since good quality service is important managers must always strive to hire excellent staff. Managing a team of waiting for staff and kitchen staff
  • Enforce company policies.
  • Achieves restaurant objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
  • To be comfortable working with sales targets
  • To Seek and maximize Revenue generation through maximum sales opportunities and minimize costs.
  • Think of innovative strategies to increase business at the Restaurant.
  • Resolve problems with the customers, handle customer criticisms.
  • Controls cost by reviewing portion control and quantities of preparation; minimizing waste; ensuring high quality of preparation.
  • Purchasing all items including food, beverages, equipment, and supplies.
  • Managing all accounts payable and receivable, handling payroll, and hiring accountants or bookkeepers if required.
  • Publicizes the restaurant by designing and placing advertisements; inviting food editors to review the restaurant; contacting local, regional, and national magazines with feature ideas; encouraging local businesses to hold social events at the restaurant.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations; securing revenues; maintaining security; maintaining parking lot and walkways.
  • Maintains ambiance by controlling lighting, background music, linen service, glassware, dinnerware, and utensil quality and placement monitoring food presentation and service.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
