Job Description
Job Objective:The Server administrators (or sysadmin or systems administrator) are responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems and servers. Server Administrator installs hardware and software, and participates in continuously improve and keep up with the backend servers/ systems of applications hosted on State Data Center/ Cloud Infrastructure. Server administrators also actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the department.
Core Responsibilities:
Proven experience as a Server Administrator or similar role for Windows / Linux based Servers.
Configuration of servers, operating systems administration, hardening, load balancers, firewall including but not limited to management of users, processes, resource contention, preventive maintenance and management of updates & patches to ensure that the system is properly updated
Re-installation in the event of system crash/failures
Periodic health check of the systems, troubleshooting problems, analyzing and implementing rectification measures
Implementation and maintenance of standard operating procedures for maintenance of the infrastructure
Management of the usernames, roles and passwords of all the relevant subsystems, including, but not limited to servers, applications, devices, etc.
Implementing security on the Internet and Intranet
Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes
Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
Install and configure software and hardware
Manage network servers and technology tools, Set up accounts and workstations
Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
Troubleshoot issues and outages, Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
Upgrade/ patching of systems with new releases and models time to time.
Maintain code repository server and access configuration
Maintain cloud infrastructure, application and database backup.
Configure and Maintain Server scaling and High Availability & Disaster Recovery
Web / Mobile Application release management activities on staging and production server.
Application Deployment on .Net / Java/ PHP based applications on Windows / Linux Servers
Skillset:
Microsoft Windows Server, RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, SUSE, CentOS, VMware
Internet Information Server, Apache, Tomcat, Node
SVN, GIT, Azure DevOps CICD for release management
Powersell & other Server side Scripting
LDAP/ AD Management
DNS, DHCP Management
SAN, NAS Management
Basic DB side administration including backup & restore for MySQL, Postgres, MS-SQL & Oracle
Exposure on State Data Center / National Datacenter / AWS / Azure or other Cloud operations
Education:
BE / B. Tech
or
PG in IT / CS or equivalent
Experience:
8 years of Web, Application and Database server administration
Desirable Skills:
Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
UAT and production Server maintenance
Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
Certification on following will be preferred:
(i) AWS / Azure Cloud Architect, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE)
(ii) Red Hat Certified Engineer
UAT and production Server maintenance
Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including expert knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
Certification on following will be preferred:
