Job Description
VAM Systems is a Business Consulting, IT Solutions and Services company with operations in UAE, Bahrain, USA, Australia, Singapore & India.VAM Systems is currently looking for Senior Database Administrator / Senior GeoDatabse Admin for our Bahrain operations with the following skill set and terms and conditions:
Educational Qualification & Certifications:
BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Geography/GIS or a related field
Experience:
Proven experience of 5+ years of experience as a GIS DBA or similar role
Extensive knowledge of ESRI products and a broad understanding of GIS concepts, techniques, and best practices.
Should have demonstrated experience in maintaining Oracle & Postgres ESRI ArcSDE databases.
Required Skills:
Candidates should have the ability to work in a dynamic environment and a willingness to troubleshoot technical issues.
ESRI Technical Certification is preferred
Roles & Responsibilities
Perform GIS database administration and maintenance functions utilizing Oracle, Postgres Server for ArcGIS, and/or ArcGIS Desktop. This includes indexing, compressing, and other database maintenance tasks to ensure a highly available enterprise environment.
Installs and maintains development, staging and production databases. Ensures that version upgrades, tuning, and/or patches are installed as needed.
Manages geodatabase schemas, security, user accounts, replications, and versions.
Plan and implement data system automation, test procedures, system backups and database archive operations in coordination with the Organization DBA Department.
Support the GIS Developers to develop web-based mapping applications and other GIS solutions.
Monitor database system/server performance in coordination with other System Administrators utilizing various system tools or scripts, including System Monitor for ArcGIS. Identify, test and resolve complex database issues as they are discovered.
Works with System Administrators to ensure all system tiers are synchronized between staging, production, and disaster recovery.
Create and maintain documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.
Define, recommend, and develop database standards, including ensuring that all enterprise data meets the minimum metadata requirements
Terms and conditions
Joining time frame: 4 weeks (maximum 6 weeks)
