Inviting applications for the role of Lead Consultant - Linux & Unix Support
This role will consist of managing service desk team which will include performance, escalations, team admin issues and driving improvements. Along with other project related task on adhoc basis and managing relationship with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Integrated the Linux environment with Active Directory providing a Single Sign On (SSO) solution.
- Monitored System Activities like CPU, Memory, Disk and Swap space usage to avoid any performance issues.
- Software package and patch administration, involving adding and removing software packages and updating patches
- Handling problems or requirements as per the ticket (Request Tracker) created.
- Setting up and maintaining UNIX user accounts and access management systems.
- Detecting and troubleshooting software and hardware issues.
- Installation of Patches, Hardware, software s, and Firmware upgrades.
- Management of User accounts, System security, change management and performance tuning.
- Worked with monitoring tools such as Nagios
- Responsible for setting cron jobs on the servers.
- Experience in installing and configuration of Linux Operating Systems (Ubuntu, Debian and Red Hat)
- Experience with Linux servers in virtualized environments and Granting root permission to users for performing certain activities.
- Creating and troubleshooting UNIX file systems
- Responsible for installation, configuration, and administration of Red Hat Linux, Ubuntu systems.
- Experience in writing basic Shell scripts using bash, Perl, Python for process automation of databases, applications, backup and scheduling.
- Strong technical background in Storage, Disk Management, Logical Volume Management (LVM) and logical partitioning.
Qualifications we seek in you
Minimum Qualifications- Must have a technology and service desk background
- Graduate in any stream
- RHCSA, RHCE Certifications preferred
- ITIL certification
Preferred qualifications
- Configuration and troubleshooting - LAN and TCP/IP issues.
- Provided on-call support and worked with Vendors on system issues and bugs for its resolution.
- Installed and configured VMware ESX server instances for virtual server setup and deployment. Responsible for creating VMware virtual guests running Linux, Windows.
- Proficient in System administration, System planning, co-ordination, commissioning, setting up security hierarchy and capacity planning.
- Expertise in managing shared NFS files system, mounting and un-mounting NFS server, NFS client on remote machine, sharing remote file folder, starting and stopping the NFS services.
- Setup various user profiles, environment variables/security to ensure smooth operation.
- Experience in installing local and remote YUM server on Redhat.
- Basic understanding on cloud stack
- Basic understanding on other Windows and VMWare environment
- Organizational and time-management skills
- Experience/understanding of ITIL methodology
