Job Description
Aon Impact Forecasting (IF), is looking for a flood model developer to help build the next generation of catastrophe models and enhance existing ones as part of catastrophe modeling analysis in the insurance and reinsurance industry.

Responsibilities
- The individual will be a part of a team and will contribute towards developing and utilizing probabilistic flood models, to estimate probabilistic and scenario hazard for flow, depth and velocity.
- The individual will also contribute towards estimating location and portfolio level loss distribution, average annual loss and other metrics.
- The individual will provide critical analysis of modeling results for internal validation of models and explaining results to clients when needed.
- The individual will actively collaborate with R&D team and software development teams in all aspects of the model development and implementing the methodologies developed by the R&D group at IF.
- Assist in other model development tasks as needed such as documentation, model calibration, client presentations, and model design.
Role-specific Technical Skills and Knowledge (including any educational or degree requirements, years of prior work experience, etc.)
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Hydrology/Hydraulics/Earth Sciences (or other related engineering disciplines) and good understanding of hydrologic models, flood routing models and hydrodynamic models.
- Programming skills to develop and support model updates, e.g. Python, R, MATLAB, or FORTRAN.
- In-depth statistical knowledge, preferably in probabilistic, geospatial statistics and similar.
- 0-3 years of flood model development experience.
- Technical support both internal and with clients will be required, rich discussion with catastrophe modelling team is expected.
- Some Knowledge of insurance/reinsurance concepts is an advantage. Excellent interactive mapping/geospatial skills (QGIS and/or ArcGIS). Excellent skills in oral and written communication. Willingness to work with teams in different time-zones.
- Capability to work in a team effectively and respect teamwork environment.
