Performance Expectations
The successful candidate will be capable of investigating a variety of new or tried and true technologies to create unique design solutions for existing or next generation products.
Prepare concept and design drawings with supporting calculations and material data ensuring that designs meet specification requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
Maintain thorough documentation for all aspects of assigned projects.
Contact and interact with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to investigate technologies and their applications.
Monitor the development of new technologies and upcoming suppliers.
Build relationships with vendors, suppliers, and contractors to enable development with new technologies.
Design and test prototypes. Employ data collection, analysis techniques, and optimization to achieve target performance.
Provide support in checking details, assemblies, and BOMS for assigned projects.
Apply a wide variety of established or modified engineering methods or techniques with considerable independence of action.
Other duties as assigned.
Credentials
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or C.E.T. in an Electrical discipline. Preference will be given to candidates registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
Minimum 2 years of experience as an Electrical Designer or Electrical Design Engineer in a mobile/heavy equipment (or related) manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of general electrical skills and hydraulic controls.
Design experience with SolidWorks (with formal training preferred); experience with AutoCad desirable.
Exceptional critical thinking skills and must be capable of thinking outside of the box.
Exceptional research, hands on data collection, and data analysis skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
