Job SummaryThe SQL Database Administrator will be based in Chennai .MSSQL Database Administrator position is part of Data & Analytics Organization and will be responsible for the administration of computerized database. Database administrator will be able to administer and guarantee the database integrity and availability of the databases defining and following the best practices, processes and procedures to backup, recovery, monitoring and improvement of the databases performance & stability. This individual will also analyze and solve database issues in a timely and accurate fashion, in a regional or global scope
Here is a glimpse of what you will do:
- The Database administrator is the first level of support and is responsible for Installation of SQL Server 2012 & above & Configure as per Guidelines recommended.
- Resolves at least 80% of calls routed independently.
- In-depth knowledge of troubleshooting scripts and knowledge of server topologies/configurations.
- Configure Database backups & Restore of Databases from production to Test environment
- Import and export data from a file.
- Configure replication & support existing configured replication, log shipping & SQL Clusters
- Review Job executions; change schedule of a job & Configure Jobs as Per Guidelines.
- Review free space, Perform Shirking & truncating files when Necessary.
- Validate the performance of a new Object and release to production environment
- User Security Management for SQL Server Databases as per Request.
- Monitor SSIS and Stored procedures in production
- DB decommissioning, Database Restarts & Patching
- Ability to write scripts to automate tasks
- Basic troubleshooting Skills that involves reviewing of Application, system & SQL Server Logs.
- Timely Escalation of issues.
- Basic knowledge on MySQL & PostgreSQL
- Provision MySQL instances in different environments
Here is some of what you will need (required):
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of work experience in Database Administration
- Strong administrative skill on SQL 2008 & above.
- Exposure to VMWare or Virtual Server/ Virtual PC would be added value
- Should have Hands on experience on Remote Monitoring of database servers
- Monitors production systems and provides 24x7 support for production related issues.
- Continually analyzes the application using debugging tools, error logs, scripts and backup reports in order to optimize performance.
- Knowledge of hardware platforms like HP and Dell Servers is also an added value
- Works with the Asia, US and EMEA Teams during planned Data Center Maintenance activities.
- Experience with database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability concepts.
- Capacity planning, monitoring, auditing, database/application performance optimization and other tasks.
Here are a few of our preferred experiences:
- Any credited Technical Diploma/Degree required
- Added value if completed MCSA in SQL 2012 - 2016
- Ability to work independently and has excellent troubleshooting abilities.
- Very good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
- Well organized, hard worker with strong documentation skills.
