Director Engineering - Job Description
- We are seeking to hire a dynamic, highly customer-centric personality who will strategise, evolve and run a diverse development team. The role will serve on the technology leadership team and report into the Head of Engineering.
- To be successful as a Director Engineering, you should be able to collaborate with team members and cross-functional stakeholders. Ultimately, a top-notch Director Engineering should be a solid hands-on programmer, demonstrate excellent communication skills, an ability to connect with other engineers and developers, and have a solid foundation in software engineering.

- Track, report and improve execution metrics for your group.
- Set the bar for good programming skills through personal example.
- Manage the team, develop the organisational culture and keep us on schedule.
- Deliver superior economics by making strategic investments in automation, analytics and machine learning.
- Assure Cloud environments are secure and compliant.
- Implement best engineering processes. Lead technical resolution of priority incidents, facilitate post-incident evaluations and ensure permanent closure of incidents.
- Attract, retain and grow top talent across the organisation.
What makes you a match for us
- 10+ years working in a technological role with 2+ years managing 30 or more engineers.
- Prior experience leading teams in a tech startup.
- Hands on 20% of the time or more
- Is a programmer who is a role model.
- Supremely tech savvy, able to wear multiple hats such as being an awesome programmer, application developer, technical architect, database designer.
- Large scale software product engineering experience with contemporary tools and delivery methods in a complex environment (i.e. DevOps, CI/CD, Agile, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Must be knowledgeable about industry trends, best practices, and change management.
- Tier 1 Institute Degree is a must
- Excellent Communications skills - written & oral
