Years of Experience: 3-7 years
Role summary:
The Core Application Engineer is responsible for the packaging, maintenance, and overall expertise in a number of core desktop applications, including Chrome, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader, Visual C++,.NET, etc.
Qualified candidates will need to have experience in packaging these applications for distribution via SCCM.
They should also have experience in Group Policy Settings, MSI, and optionally MSIX.
Deep knowledge of application packaging and the software
development lifecycle (SDLC) is required.
An understanding of the specific software, its roadmap, and its configuration are required.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Architect and implement core application packages, integrate with associated plugins,
provide tooling and plan for global rollout.
- Research and develop standard configuration settings appropriate for each application.
- Design and implement of any associated infrastructure management components (AD
configuration, Group Policy settings and SCCM applications/packages).
- Development software integration lab test cases and test plans for each application, including
automated and manual testing processes.
- Assist testing teams with defining user acceptance testing.
- Assist distribution teams with completion of the software release process following
successful lab testing.
- Build good relationships with internal IT teams.
- Create and submit required documentation, metrics, and other reports associated with these
applications.
- Review security notifications and evaluate upgrade criticality.
- Work with the support organization on open issues and investigations
- Issue escalation to software vendors where appropriate
- Documenting fixes and updates
- Third level support for core applications, including:
- Coordination with operational support teams on open issues and investigations.
- Issue escalation to software vendors when appropriate.
