Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Network security: Ensures protection from viruses or other security threats, corrupt data and maintain system backups.
- Installation/Configuration of Firewall and creation of Rules and policies.
- Installation/Configuration of Managed Network Switches, VLAN, Port forwarding and network routing.
- Communication with Service provider/Vendor for hardware/software problems and technical supports.
- Implementation of new server, network hardware and corresponding software solutions.
- Maintenance of project wise servers and systems to ensure servers stability, upgradation of software with appropriate patches with minimum downtime.
- Ensures that all network systems are functioning and communicating properly. Systems include server hardware, server software, firewalls, routers, network switches, VPN devices, cabling (Ethernet and telephone), wireless, phone systems, keyless entry, and other related network systems.
- Tracks systems end of life and specifies replacements when needed.
- Manages and supports e-mail, database servers, virtualization servers, video conferencing and implements secure Internet access where needed throughout the organization.
- Manages phone systems; including cabling, toning, testing, punching 66 blocks, punching patch panels, phone system programming, acquiring of new services, support of all existing services and assessment of existing services. Knowledge of different technologies is must (i.e. VOIP, POTS, Centrex, PRI, ISDN, SIPs, ILLs and MPLS).
- Assists programs with relocation of equipment and needs created by a move to a new facility, i.e.: bids for cabling, networking, and communication systems.
- Documents existing systems and formulates comprehensive plans for the implementation of new systems.
- Performs regular inventories of existing IT equipment & reports any discrepancy to IT Head.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Must possess an advanced understanding of networking protocols & procedures.
- Must possess experience with tier 2 network hardware in a production environment
- Must possess advanced understanding of Microsoft OS & applications, including server applications, i.e. test and production environment.
- Must have extensive experience with hardware/software troubleshooting and analysis.
- Must be able to handle sensitive data with complete security along with privacy.
