The Boeing Technical Solutions team is currently looking for Software Architects to join their applications development team in Chennai, TN. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Global Services business organization.
Job Description Summary
Defines requirements and designs and verifies robust architecture, data and information management systems and components. Establishes design constraints and ensures architecture conforms to requirements. Incorporates architecture functions into software development lifecycle. Leads the development and configuration management of architecture views and models. Assesses of feasibility of architecture solutions and alternatives. Performs trade-off analyses. Evaluates products to assess suitability for integration into delivery system environments. Drafts data and information management products and service standards. Assess impact of architectural decisions to product lifecycle. Contributes to architecture and data/information management standards and strategies.
Responsibilities:
- This position involves working closely with other development teams in US and other locations. The selected individual will be a part of the Engineering and Technology team in Boeing India.
- This position will support initiatives of Boeing India organization related to engineering excellence, employee development, mentoring, customer engagement etc
- Participate/Lead in producing the solutions conceptual architecture and associated artifacts
- Advice/Mentor on Technical and Functional Design
- Helping the development team in defining security architecture, design for performance
- Ensuring CI/CD and DEVOPS maturity
- Collaborate across domains to design/deliver larger scoped initiatives
- Leads the development and maintenance of secured architecture views and models.
- Travel domestically and internationally, as required.
Technical Skills required
- Very good analytical skills allowing to translate business objectives to technical solutions
- Experience in designing large distributed system
- Experience in designing systems in client-server architecture
- Experience with at least one cloud environment from following set: AWS, Azure, GCE
- Good knowledge of SOAP/REST API approaches
- Good knowledge of security principles for systems storing sensitive data
- Good knowledge of difference between synchronous and asynchronous communication in cloud environment and when to use which
- Experience in one of following programming language: Java, C#, Python with focus on web services/APIs development
- 'Ability to rapidly prototype a mock of technical solution and present it to development teams'
- Nice to have: Experience in taking over legacy systems and refactoring them to apply modern patterns and approaches
- Nice to have: Experience in high volumes data migration between legacy and modern systems
- Nice to have: Experience in designing high traffic data delivery application (files deliver, video streaming, etc.)
- Ability to clearly translate business objectives coming from Product Management
- Ability to clearly explain technical solution and its consequences to Product Management
- Good understanding of how business requirement impact technical solution and other way around
- Ability to be a technical leader and take full accountability for technical side of a project
- Ability to be a mentor for development teams from both technical and business perspective
- Practical knowledge of software requirements development
- Experience in understanding, defining and consuming business domain concept model, logical model and physical model
- Experience in implementing business rules (nice to have)
- Establishes Application Modernization and Cloud Adoption architecture approaches
- Experience with application integration brokers / micro service architecture
- Experience with delivery methodologies such as Agile (SAFe) and SCRUM.
- Good understanding of RDBMS, and NoSQL based solutions
- Experience with Python , Java, Angular, C++, .Net
- Experience working with Spatial databases using ArcGIS or PostGIS
- Experience with Azure Experience in evangelizing cloud adoption and establishing cloud architectures
- Experience using Jama and Enterprise Architect
- Deep domain experience in Aerospace/Navigation Solutions/Geo Spatial processing
- Knowledge in Learning management systems
- Knowledge on Standards for Processing Aeronautical Data (DO-200) or DO178
- Knowledge on Aerodrome Mapping Information (DO-272)
- Knowledge on Weather, Navigation database, Notams
- Familiar with Airspace structure domain, Knowledge of Airline Operations Center (AOC) domain
- Knowledge of Aeronautical chartingand Electronic Terrain and Obstacle Database (ETOD)
- Assists in the facilitation of team meetings across time zones.
- Candidate must be a self-starter with a positive attitude, high ethics, and a track record of working successfully under pressure in a time-constrained environment.
- Good communication & presentation skills - Excellent verbal and written English, including grammar. Delivers informative, well-organized presentations.
- Possesses understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design.
- Understands Internet and client/server architectures in a web-based application.
- Experience of Agile methodology in a software environment.

- Exhibits confidence and an extensive knowledge of emerging industry practices when solving business problems.
- Must have experience working with cross-functional teams spread across multiple products and locations within Boeing and external partners
- Must be flexible, with a high tolerance for organizational complexity and ability to work with partners from within Boeing and outside, across different cultures and time-zones
Education & Experience:
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor, Master or equivalent degree preferably in Computer Science or Engineering
