As a Solution Architect, you will focus on maximizing the adoption, use, and preference for PayPal by designing compelling solutions to address customer needs in complex commerce environments. You will participate in negotiations with senior executives and drive engagement with key technical contacts of leading commerce businesses.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Involvement from the early stages of the sales process supporting Sales, Channel and Relationship Management teams to demonstrate value in PayPals products, and to remove any technical obstacles.
- Leading solution discovery during pre-contractual stages of strategic partnerships.
- Utilise a consultative approach and leverage subject matter expertise to engage and demonstrate thought leadership. This will involve the creation of PowerPoint presentations, mock-ups, demo or prototype solutions and other supporting materials.
- Identify opportunities to incorporate PayPal Inc. assets to create truly end-to-end commerce solution.
- Partners throughout the pre-sales, sales, and the end-to-end integration process.
- Provide integration consultation andarticulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users from major merchants, enterpriseorganizations, strategicand channel partners, matching their business processes with PayPals payment processing services.
- Work independently and lead discussions or collaborate with other cross-functional teams, including Account Management, Sales/BD, Compliance, Integration Engineering, Product Management, Legal, Information Security, Risk and Operations teams across PayPal as required.
- Understand and document a clients product, process, system and technical requirements for payment processing across all their channels and match these with existing PayPal solutions.
- Work with merchant and internal teams to champion best in class commerce functionality and buyer checkout experiences. Work with merchants to modify existing payment workflows and look and feel.
- Become a recognized technical expert with the internal product set and act as a guide for Business Development partners in identifying potential solutions for new market verticals
- Identify any product/functionality gaps and collaborate with internal product and technology teams to define the necessary development to support solution delivery.
- Represent the full internal and external API capabilities of PayPal and PayPal properties.
Work Experience and Requirements
- 8+ years of experience/exposure in the following areas:
- Web and mobile technologies including Web Services, APIs, REST, HTML/HTTP, iOS, Android and leading web and mobile application frameworks
- Multiple major programming languages (C++, Objective-C, C#, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, .NET, PHP, Python)
- 3+ years of experience in delivering solution architecture for online payments solution.
- Experience with enterprise organizations preferably retailers/e-commerce/payment gateways/hosting companies, working on shopping carts is desired.
- Good team player with collaborative approach and ability to forge constructive relationships quickly
- Able to eliminate sales obstacles through creative and flexible approaches
- Experience with partnering with a sales team throughout the sales processProfessional and engaging communication skills with ability to adjust communication styles with all levels of organization, including C-level executives, middle management, finance and operations, technical/IT staff and line personnel.
- Organized and analytical with a proven ability for attention to detail
- Confident, outgoing and customer focused personality with a passion for business development

- Ability to rapidly understand new products and demonstrate adaptive problem solving skills
Education
- Successful completion of a university Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Postgraduate credentials would be a plus although comparable work experience is acceptable.
