Job Description
DevOps Engineer
THE POSITION:
As an employee of a growing startup, you'll collaborate closely with the Engineering team and
other stakeholders of the company to develop and maintain the next-gen Heath tech platform
infrastructure at Phable. As a DevOps Engineer at Phable, you will help improve our automation
so that we can better scale our infrastructure and products. You will be responsible for
identifying multiple solutions and work with the engineering team to implement the best one.
You'll always be on the lookout for places to add automation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
4+ years of total experience with at least 2 years of web administration and 2 years of
cloud experience is preferred
At least 2-4 years of experience building and maintaining AWS infrastructure (Serverless
Services, VPC, EC2, ECS, ALB, CloudFront, S3)
Ability to work with and influence software development teams
Proven experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Strong experience with Linux-based infrastructures, Linux/Unix administration, and AWS
Experience with scripting languages (eg: BASH, Perl, Ruby, Python) and automation
tools (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
Familiarity with container orchestration services, especially Docker and Kubernetes
Solid experience using monitoring tools like Nagios, Cloudwatch, Monit, etc.
Experience working with NoSQL databases like MongoDB and proven expertise in
optimization and scaling for the same.
Has worked well in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines, adapts, and thrives in
an evolving and changing environment.
Working knowledge of automation tools, CI/CD practices, and security policies.
Good organization and teamwork skills
BONUS SKILLS:
Cloud Certification is a plus.
Prior startup experience or have successfully set up cloud infra/platform from the ground
up within a larger company.
Experience in AWS infrastructure cost analysis and optimization
Experience on building and maintain operational tools for deployment, monitoring, and
analysis of AWS infrastructure and systems
Experience with ELK stack - setup, deployment, and maintenance
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work directly with architects and developers to create supportable designs and debug
problems
Create infrastructure and architecture designs and implementation plans and lead the
implementation continually improving existing designs and finding gaps.
Make decisions on problem mitigations in critical downtime situations when escalation is
impractical
Scripting (BASH, Python, etc) and building required automation and tools on an ad-hoc
basis
Setting up the infrastructure for microservices architecture and enabling tools to
manage/deploy/monitor/troubleshoot such apps
Create and deliver knowledge-sharing presentations and documentation to developers
and operations teams.
Learning on the job and exploring new technologies with little supervision.
Rotating on-call support of production infrastructure and applications and business hours
support for development systems
Review, recommend and implement the best security practices that are out there for the
Platform.
Collaborates with all other departments including product, design, business operations,
marketing, customer success and finance, and partners with leadership and other
stakeholders.
Maintain the website of Phable. Work with the web developer and come up with
optimizations to enhance the user experience.
