PayPal s Consumer In Store team is looking for a Staff iOS engineer to lead and develop state of the art iOS mobile applications for our customers transacting in physical shops and stores. As one of the senior most members of technical staff, you will develop and influence the product experience for PayPal s customers in 200+ countries. You have deep experience in building customer facing iOS mobile applications and have good understanding of how Web applications, Web Services, and backend systems work. Agile development, ability to lead and mentor other junior members of team, hands-on technology skills, positive work ethic and a collaborative mind set are the key to your success in this role. You will be working with various cross functional groups (business, product, analytics, user experience design and engineering) and will require admirable articulation, negotiation and influencing skills given the level of visibility. Experience or awareness of the payments industry is a big plus.
The primary role of the staff iOS engineer in Consumer In-Store team is to lead scrum team(s) and responsible for the delivery and maintenance of world class mobile experiences. This position requires extensive background in iOS application development and sound software engineering fundamentals. The successful candidate will work with engineering manager, architects, production manager, and other software engineers to design, code, test, release and maintain high quality software for PayPal s global customers within schedule and budget.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a high performing, reusable Swift code.
- Work with product owners to crystallise the technical needs during grooming and planning meetings.
- Work with engineering managers, engineers and QA to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs w.r.t functionality, performance, reliability etc
- Define and devise processes, tools and methodologies to achieve excellence in software development, testing and deployment.
- Follow coding standards and guidelines with great attention to performance, scalability, and availability.
- Stay current with the newest mobile technologies; research new technologies and make recommendations on implementations.
- Ability to reduce tech-debt and have a plan to remove them from the system.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision in a team to define, design, implement, test, release rollout, and support software applications for PayPal.
- Follow the team processes like Agile etc.
Job Requirements:
- 7+ years of software industry experience with 5+ years of iOS development experience
- Highly competent hands-on experience of Swift/ Objective-C programming skills.
- Solid understanding of iOS UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
- Experience building iOS applications connected to RESTful APIs
- Knowledge of multi-threaded, asynchronous code
- Practical knowledge on iOS architecture
- Expert understanding of the iOS lifecycle, SDK/API's and performance optimization
- Proficiency in developing libraries, dynamic modules and SDKs
- Expert at writing Unit and Automation tests
- Knowledge of unit/function/system testing tools such as Junit, Cucumber, Appium
- Knowledge of open-source and commercial libraries commonly used in the iOS ecosystem
- Have published one or more mobile apps in Apple App Store
- Solid knowledge of algorithms with good problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Experience in refactoring existing code-base and in understanding existing implementations
- Experience with multiplatform responsive design
- Desire to work in a fast pace environment and able to self-manage
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
- Highly analytical, innovative, and able to think strategically and to develop comprehensive detailed specifications
- Excellent verbal and writing skills; ability to produce clear, concise communications and documentation
- Highly effective at working in cross-functional groups and getting results in matrix organizations
- Excellent time management skills and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities
