Role and Responsibilities
A DRG Coding Auditor is to perform DRG reviews by validating accuracy of the DRG or APR DRG code assignment completeness, POA, discharge status, etc. to ensure accurate payment by our clients. The coding auditor determines if a discrepancy exists in between the coding and documents by using the standard documentation guidelines applicable to the program and validating each diagnosis accurately to avoid the denials.
Utilizes technical coding principals, Clinical knowledge/skills and DRG reimbursement expertise to assign appropriate diagnoses and/or procedures before billing it.
Conducts peer reviews to ensure compliance with coding guidelines and provides reports as needed.
Maintains strict patient and physician confidentiality and follows all federal, state and hospital guidelines for release of information
Maintains current working knowledge of ICD-10 coding principles, government regulation, protocols.
