Job description:
Transmission Specialist (ISP Networks)
The successful candidate will function as part of technology and infrastructure operations team to manage the clients telecommunication network and systems in alignment with the clients strategy and key customer requirements.
The candidate is expected to have a thorough understanding of core transport networks as well as the supporting infrastructure and systems for these networks (fiber, OSP, management systems, ancillary systems).
The Engineer will provide technical support to the clients team in defining solutions which are optimized in terms of technology capability, capacity, functionality, end-user-services, innovation and business needs.
The candidate should be able to work without constant supervision and should be able to manage his time and priorities efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities
Planning and design of the clients transmission network in alignment with the network strategy requirements.
Produce HLD and LLD for Access, Aggregation and Backbone transmission network.
Interact with technical teams of key customers or partners during technical discussions
Generate documentation in support of the network, from the planning phase, through to implementation, deployment and management of the network.
Network Transmission Capacity Management and Optimization
Weekly transmission network utilization and Site Build Program me reports
Skills and Experience
Experience in large scale network engineering roles essential, preferably to have been within an ISP network environment.
Multi-vendor skill set in all areas of systems and networking (Nokia, Alcatel-Lucent, Ciena, Huawei, Cisco).
In depth knowledge of Transmission networks, especially Ethernet and IP/MPLS technologies.
Using Transmission and Network management tools such as iManager U2000(Huawei), Cacti (RRDTool), Centreon, Solarwinds.
Able to analyse IP Backbone networks capacity based on (IGP and BGP protocols, L3 VPNs, etc.)
Knowledge of industry best practices for Transmission Networks.
Effective management of own workload and that of a virtual team.
