Job Description
Job Purpose (Job Summary): Senior Fund Tax accountant is to gain thorough understanding of Tax processes, become SME and help team achieve desired operational efficiency and mitigate all Risk factors.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
- Participate in off shoring of various tax functions from multiple geographical locations.
- Training and assisting new Joinees.
- Own up maintenance of checklists, Volume trackers and review logs.
- Compile various data pointers useful for daily functioning of process.
- Participation in any system migration / enhancements.
- Keeping Track of changes to existing processes and procedures.
- Seamless partnership with various stakeholder such as Custodians and onshore point of contact to ensure smooth functioning of all tasks.
- Participate in any system migration / enhancements.
- Participation in several cross-functional initiatives and groups for identification of collaboration opportunities around innovation and best practices sharing.
- Undertake analysis, spot checks and review of outstanding volumes, exceptions and approaching process deadlines.
- Initiate and participate in creation of Macros using Excel and other applications in order to reduce manual inputs and avoid errors.
Work Experience / Knowledge:
Domain knowledge:
- 4-6 years of Fund Tax Services experience
- Expertise in interpreting Double Taxation Treaties Predominantly provisions of Tax reclaims and Relief at Source (RAS).
- Reconciliation of tax accruals and cash positions between different set of records.
- Tax documents preparation to fetch preferential tax treaty rates based on applicable International Tax treaties.
- Tracking tax reclaims from inception till refunds are received.
- Knowledge of tax vouchers and financial data to that's is required to challenge Double taxation in European Court of Justice.
- Resolving/answering queries from Clients/sub custodians/ Tax authorities in relation to all the above mentioned tasks.
Functional experience:
- Preparation of MIS reports.
- Proficient in preparation of MS Power point presentations.
- Problem Solving and contribute to ideation sessions.
- Have continuous improvement mindset.
- Independently work on projects.
Skills / Other Personal Attributes Required:
- Excellent Verbal and written Communication
- Good Interpersonal Skills.
- Have continuous improvement mindset and implement / leverage it operational set up.
- Good working knowledge of financial / capital markets (e.g., Good understanding of financial instruments, operation of capital markets, knowledge of various financial instruments and their taxability for the income generated etc.)
- Open to work in shifts
- Ability to understand the process work flow quickly, identify gaps, new opportunities and suggest improvement using solid business judgement.
- Compile and maintain business data in structured manner for future reference and operational analysis/decision making.
- Well equipped with good MS office skills and Sound knowledge of MS Excel/Access. (Pivot, tables, queries ,Macros and other numerous functions/formulae) Knowledge of Alteryx will be added advantage.
- Must have the ability to handle multitasking, prioritize work, meet deadlines and have attention to details.
- Strong analytical skills, Open minded, Target oriented and, flexible.
- Ability to perform in a periodically changing process.
- Eye for detail and procedure focused to adhere to the Policy guidelines.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritise workload, work accurately and efficiently under pressure.
