Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Corporate Communications General Manager, you will report to the Head of OD and will be responsible for building a positive brand reputation for Shahi.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

Developing a holistic communications strategy with key stakeholders (internal and external), including

Stakeholder mapping and prioritization

Development of key messages

Identification and development of communication channels

Fixing key performance indicators

Implementing the strategy and measuring performance

Working with key executives and departments to help bring consistent, compelling messaging across internal and external communications

Developing a robust PR strategy for building a positive reputation and managing crisis PR by:

Building relationships with members of the media

Work with leadership to responding in a timely manner to queries

Proactively composing press responses and releases

Building the capacity of internal teams on media relations management

Creating and disseminating crisis communications protocols internally

Being a spokesperson for the company

Revamping and maintaining Shahis website to align with communications strategy

Creating standard branding guidelines including:

New logo

Color palettes, fonts

Templates for presentations, company profiles, brochures, and other communication materials

Articulating Shahis vision, mission, and culture pillar and embed them across the organization

Improving Shahis brand visibility and leading content development for Shahis blog, social media newsletter, media content, speeches for speaking engagements, videos, and any other communication assignments

Copywriting and proofreading company presentations, reports, and various other project collaterals as per the communication and branding guidelines

Streamlining communication to all buyers on company developments such as policy changes, compliance issues, and crises.

Formulating and reviewing all internal communication for employees such as email announcements, policy change memos for factories, newsletters, and company updates, including in local languages

Formulating communications policies for the company such as social media and media relations framework for employees, use of companys branding guidelines, and crisis communication protocols.

Building relationships with internal and external stakeholders including NGOs, trade unions, brands, Civil Society Organizations, Government Bodies.

Training and development of all relevant staff and team members on oral and written communication skills.

Building the corporate communications team to deliver on its goals and objectives.

Developing and adhere to a departmental budget


Desired Candidate Profile

Preferred skills and experience:

We are a small, ambitious team and are looking for someone who will bring plenty of initiative and enthusiasm, along with a professional approach and the ability to work productively with multiple teams across a large, complex organization. Youll need:

Bachelors and Masters degrees in English, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field.

10-15-years experience in corporate communications, public relations and/or related agency work

Extensive experience in leading corporate communications strategy in a large corporate, preferably in:

Textiles/Apparel industry

Manufacturing sector

Strong background in PR and crisis management

Excellent writing and communication skills

Legal background preferred

Proficiency in Hindi and Kannada preferred

Understanding of apparel industry preferred

Self-driven and able to undertake work without supervision

Good interpersonal, organizational and project management skills

Ability to work with multiple stakeholders on complex projects

Entrepreneurial mindset
