The position is for Software Engineer with Ruby/RoR server side scripting experience, working on building futuristic and delightful platforms for PayPal's diverse customer and merchant base in our Growth Markets. The engineers in this team have a unique opportunity of working closely with the market facing business teams, local customers, the customer support teams, product owners and other global product and engineering teams. The scope of problems to solve is large, and this team will be in the center of all the action for growing and scaling PayPal s payments platform in these markets. Software Engineer, Ruby on Rails, PayPal Growth Markets Engineering Team
The Growth Markets Engineering Team is responsible for developing and rolling out new products for PayPal s customer base in markets seeing high commerce growth across the world such as Mexico, Brazil, Japan and India. Our charter is to double down and drive the next wave of growth for PayPal s consumer and merchant bases globally, to propel new user acquisition, provide platform expansion through ubiquity, bring in new revenue through partnerships and to contribute actively to our organization s mission of democratizing financial services and 1B daily actives globally.
Engineers in this team would be involved in building new payments platform and experiences for PayPal s hyper growth markets, that would redefine how customers of PayPal pay and get paid.
The Position:

The Role:
A customer focused, hands-on Ruby on Rails Engineer, responsible for implementing and delivering state of the art payments solutions for Growth markets of PayPal. The ideal candidate is an individual who can be engaged through out full software lifecycle, from system design and development of front-end system components. Business acumen, hands-on technology skills, positive attitude and a collaborative mindset are key to the success of this role.
The prospective candidate will be an individual contributor working with various cross functional groups (product, analytics, user experience design and engineering) and will require admirable collaboration skills. The role would involve building new and emerging payments platforms and experiences for Mexico, Japan, Brazil and similar hyper growth markets, that would redefine how customers of PayPal pay and get paid.

- Own end-to-end quality of deliverables during all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Understand technical designs by working within PayPal s cross-functional technology teams.

- Exposure and participation in tech events, hackathons, contributions to open source is a plus.
Technical Hands-on Skills
- Strong object-oriented programming skills and expertise in Ruby and Ruby on Rails
- Very strong foundational knowledge in Data Structures, Algorithms, SQL/NoSQL, Operating Systems, and Software Engineering
- Good knowledge in REST API s, Web Services.
- Experience with test frameworks and Functional Test frameworks.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS is preferred.
- Exposure to one or more server-side scripting technologies is a plus.
- Experience and Exposure to Terraform and Ansible is a plus.
Educational Qualifications
- BSCS plus 3+ years / MSCS plus 2 years of experience in software design, development.
