Analyzes customer information requirements and product specifications to define technical content strategy and plan. Designs and develops written and/or visual product-related information hard copy, web - (e.g., user/configuration/troubleshooting guides), and online information (interactive demos, help systems) integrated into product, for a variety of audiences (end user, system administrators, internal support engineers, product developers, training developers). Codes, builds, compiles, and tests online information and/or sets-up, loads and tests systems hardware to create information deliverables and provide feedback on ease of use and user interfaces to product development. As customer advocate, helps define/refine product requirements. Develops standards and style documents and templates, scripts, style sheets, and script and graphic libraries to ensure common look and feel. Interfaces with cross-functional areas as a member of the product development team, such as marketing, test, support, and manufacturing.
Education and Experience Required:
Typically an Associate degree or First Level University degree or equivalent experience
Required skills
2-4 years experience in creating software documentation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong knowledge of Adobe Frame Maker (Structured)/Madcap Flare or any other documentation tools
Ability to explore and analyze product features and leverage it for user documentation & video creation
Thorough understanding of technical writing standards, processes, and their application
Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills to work with software developers, testers, support engineers, and doc team members
Ability and flexibility to work with teams across different geographies
Experience in documenting software products for technical audience
Must be technically inclined to understand infrastructure, enterprise product technologies, and analyze documentation & video requirements
Experience creating information strategy for a product domain and / or technologies
Experience in estimating and planning, and multi-tasking
Represent company in professional associations, e.g., STC, ASM-SIGDOC, IEEE, technology standards committees such as DocBook Standards Committee.
Desirable skills
Usability/user experience testing and documentation
Experience in creating videos using tools like Camtasia
