Job Description
Key responsibilities
Working in collaboration with the team document and implement opimtisation recommendation rules in our insights engine to provide product teams with accurate recommendations on how they can improve.
Analyse cloud consumption for opportunities for optimisation and surface these to the appropriate engineering teams.
Broaden Maersks adoption of reserved instances working with the FinOps team.
Establish and mature core metrics for optimisation with the FinOps team.
Ensure that all relevant data for cost optimisation is available in dashboards.
Support engineering teams in validation of cost saving initiatives.
Working directly with product teams, guide and support the implementation of optimisation opportunities.
Seek vendor expertise in identification and development of new optimisation insights.
Be a FinOps evangelist to help others realise the value of cloud cost management.
Working in sprints, break down work into actionable items which drive incremental improvements in our FinOps capabilities
As a senior you are expected to mentor junior peers and provide guidance and thought leadership on technical topics relevant to the success of the Cloud Governance team.
As a senior you are expected to take initiative and take ownership of creating cross cutting capabilities or artifacts that help the team succeed
We are looking for
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with deploying and building cloud-native applications and a solid understanding of Cloud infrastructure, IaaS and PaaS.
The candidate will have a deep understanding of cloud billing and consumption models and have experience of extracting consumption trends with an analytical mindset to identify optimisation opportunities.
The candidate will have experience with defining Cloud infrastructures, through Infrastructure as Code and experience and understanding of modern Devops and Agile practices.
The candidate is a resilient team player who is data driven and goal-orientated and demonstrates a high level of commitment with the ability to work under minimal supervision and work collaboratively with the FinOps team and directly into engineering teams.
Experience building and running software on public cloud (Azure, GCP or other cloud)
Analyse cloud consumption data to identify optimisation opportunities and measure savings.
Design and develop automation through scripting languages.
Experience with Pipeline tools, Azure DevOps, GitHub etc.
C#/Java/Go/Node or any other compiled-language experience are appreciated
Awareness of, and ability to reason about, modern software & systems architecture patterns.
Independent and self-managed but shines when in a team, communicating well, and exercising initiative when presented with problems.
Identify opportunities for optimisation and enable engineering teams to realise the savings through expert knowledge.
Embed guidance for optimisation opportunities in code through our insights engine.
