As Lead Engineer Aero Modeling & Simulation, you will be part of the global Aerodynamics and Acoustics, within the Front End Engineering organization of LM Wind Power, a GE Renewables Business.
Essential Responsibilities
As Lead Engineer, you will be part of highly qualified and experienced team working towards blade aerodynamics, customer fulfillment, supporting our plants towards fulfilling Aero quality requirements, building new strategic capabilities towards measurements, field testing and validation and driving new technology initiatives.
In this role, some of your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Support wind turbine blade NPI and NTIs at different stage and gate processes.

  • Actively engage with our Blade technical account managers and LM service team towards pre-sales and after-sales customer fulfillment on aero related requests.

  • Quickly learn and implement in-house modeling tools.

  • Lead modeling & simulation projects while working in a highly cross-functional environment & deliver towards new technology development & capabilities thereby maximizing the value of LM blades.

  • Support our world class blade manufacturing plants in ensuring to meet blade aero design CTQs during launches and regular production.

  • Work closely with our aero designers towards maximizing the turbine AEP through optimizing the aero add-ons, turbine operation controls while meeting the aero safety limits.

  • Drive various continuous improvements initiatives in the aero engineering processes and maintain documentation of all aero related work products.

Required Qualifications

  • Master in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering with strong background in Aerodynamics.

  • Experience of 5+ years in CFD (computational fluid dynamics) areas (pre-processing, meshing, analysis and post processing).

  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of CAD modeling and eager to code/model and develop new tools and methodologies.

  • Good knowledge in Wind turbine Aerodynamics or similar turbo machinery area.

  • Exposure to testing & validation methods either in wind tunnel or field testing

  • Demonstrate capability to technically drive modeling and simulation application into other relevant aerodynamic areas

  • Develop capability to drive tasks, ensuring compliance to our existing process but also seeking continuous improvements.

  • Having global mind-set and work well with our colleagues from all over the world

  • Strong communication skills with attentiveness to customers needs

Desired Characteristics

  • International experience working with key wind turbine manufacturers

  • Work experience in any of the CAD packages such as NX (Unigraphics)/CATIA is desirable.

  • Experience in ANSYS CFX, ICEM (hexa) and/or ANSYS meshing

  • Willingness to work in computational aero acoustics.

  • Proficiency in programming using C/C++/Python

  • Experience in product life cycle management (PLM) tools is desirable.

  • Certifications such as Six Sigma - Green belt and Project Management certification are a plus.
