Job Description
Job brief: Were looking for a Rockstar full-stack engineer to join our software engineering team as a strong contributor and technical Engineer Omnitracs customer facing tools are the core of our business, and our internal applications drive future growth. You will be a Engineer, helping us to build a modern set of frameworks, services, and applications and continue our success in the transportation space. We are looking for candidates who have experience in Java + Node JS Our stack: Code: Node.js + Typescript, Go, Python, Scala Data Eng: Kafka, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Redis, S3 Frontend: React, MobX, GraphQL, Webpack, Legacy:, Java, SQL, RabbitMQ, Mongo Our Team & Process We are an agile team following scrum methodologies. Most engineers are located in our beautiful San Diego UTC office, along with some remote workers as well. Slack is our daily driver, and we frequently work on voice and video calls. We use Jira, Bitbucket, and Confluence for issue tracking, source control, code reviews, and documentation. We hold stand ups, retros, planning meetings, and demos on a regular basis. Your role: Omnitracs engineers are trusted with the responsibility of designing and developing software that embraces quality and reliability while delivering performance across all platforms. Designing and developing services and applications that enable all Omnitracs products and solutions. Partnering with front-end, data, product, QA, operations, and other technical team leads in design, test, release planning, and coordination. Diagnosing, characterizing, and addressing performance, scale, and cross-platform stability issues Leading design reviews and code reviews for components and systems Prototyping and championing new technology introductions to the platform Effectively representing our technical capabilities and strategies to diverse internal teams, as well as to external partners and customers Qualifications: Bachelors/Masters in Engineering with specialization in Computer Science/IT or equivalent experience Expert in modern software development practices in multiple languages and environments 2+ years strong development / Coding experience 2+ years of significant experience with distributed systems 2+ years of experience interfacing with data access layers for SQL and NoSQL systems Experience supporting a platform transition while tactically diagnosing and solving challenges in messy legacy software stacks Strong API designer, with demonstrated history of working effectively with front-end, data engineering, quality, and operations teams A team player that works hard, admits his/her strengths and weaknesses, and has the flexibility to improve by learning new things Rockstar qualifications: Broad full-stack experience, ranging from IOT/Edge to Front-End, Services, Data layer Strong preference for large scale telematics, autonomous/semi-autonomous driving, GIS visualization, and reporting/dashboarding experience Experience with our specific stack, including Node.js and Typescript/Javascript, Go, Java, Python, Scala Experience driving agile teams and leveraging SCM, CI/CD and robust build/test/profiling automation (Git, Jenkins, NPM, Spinnaker Preference for demonstrated experience with cloud-based analytics platforms (AWS, Azure, etc) Experience with web and public/private cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, Nginx/Apache) Demonstrated history of developing frameworks that are effectively leveraged by other developer
