Roles and Responsibilities
Cloud Architect Job Description
The ideal candidate must possess technical presentation skills that enable you to represent well within a technical team environment and drive discussions with senior personnel regarding incidents, trade-offs, best practices, and risk management.
You should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, resource, and technical challenges as you help our team take advantage of the efficiencies, cost savings and quick innovation available in the AWS cloud.
Every day will bring new and exciting challenges on the job while you:
- Work with UK Central Cloud team and local Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) to provide day to day Cloud architecture guidance around their AWS Services.
- Work with the wider IT team on operational and tactical issues related to Cloud migration.
- Work with application owners to develop and standardize test, upgrade, and release management processes during the migration process.
- Participate in routine Cloud management and technical meetings, as well as architecture working group.
- Triage technical issues between application owner and UK Central Cloud team
- Assist in Design/Architecture of AWS and hybrid cloud solutions.
- Establish working relationship with Cloud partner (AWS)
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in computer science or Computer Engineering
- 4+ years of experience working in a Cloud service delivery/technical management role with a high level of accountability. Experience in AWS Cloud is mandatory
- Proven track record of exceptional architecture decision analysis that can link to operational impacts.
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills to successfully engage with customers and colleagues.
- Well-honed troubleshooting skills at various levels of complexity.
Desired Candidate Profile
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Hands-on experience in a technical role (systems, DevOps, network operations or similar).
- Experience implementing multi-tier application stacks from the OS up through custom applications.
- Experience with AWS service offerings.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-moving environment.
- Presentation skills; high degree of comfort with both large and small audiences.
- High level of comfort communicating effectively across internal and external organizations
