SUMMARY
SAP Concur is the world s leading provider of integrated travel, expense, and invoice management solutions. By connecting data, applications, and people, our cloud-based solution provides to more than 50 million users an effortless experience and total transparency into spend wherever and whenever it happens.
We are looking for a principal engineer to become a key member of a newly formed agile team. The team will build new services in addition to integrating with other SAP services to support a seamless end-to-end business process for government and commercial SAP Concur customers.
THE ROLE
Lead the architecture and design of new features with technical product management and engineering teams.
Be accountable for the quality, performance and security of software delivered by the team
Collaborate with principal engineers from other groups to agree on the design of cross-domain enhancements
Ensure technology decisions align with architecture, security and compliance standards.
Own cloud services end to end, designing distributed systems, and architecting using AWS services and best practices such as zero-downtime production deployments, canaries, frequent deployments, and feature-flag-driven development.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring of engineering teams.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Engineering degree in computer science or equivalent with 14+ years of experience in software development.
Demonstrated ability to to drive product architecture design and articulate architecture solution options to the product owners and architecture leadership.
Ability to write (and review) clean and scalable code using Java, JavaScript (React/Redux is a plus) and other modern programming languages.
Experience with container ecosystems (Docker, Helm, Kubernetes) and ideally AWS primitives (such as EC2, AMIs, EKS, Dynamo, etc.)
Experience designing public APIs is a plus
Excellent communication skills in English and the ability to contribute as part of a global Team player who seeks solutions to problems and can quickly translate ambiguity to clarity and action.
