Job Description

Overview of the Position:

The Head - IMC will provide leadership to around 20 supply chain inspectors and inspection support staff located in 4 offices of GoodWeave India. The audit and inspection staff members to be supervised include Sr. Managers, Managers, Data Executives, and Quality Control Officers.

The role requires the ability to manage the team to ensure support and guidance to day-to-day activities related to inspections, auditing, and reporting. The position is responsible for team building and motivation to ensure high-quality monitoring of the growing numbers of supply chains as per the GoodWeave Standard. The position is based in Greater Noida.

The Head IMC will report to GoodWeave India Country Director or Deputy Director on day-to-day operations, including workload planning, ensuring sufficient resources to complete the work with quality and team management aspects. The position will work in close coordination with and will have functional reporting related to the functional area of IMC to GoodWeave Internationals Director of Standards and Certification to ensure smooth implementation of GWI certification policies and procedures, improvements to the certification process, Chain Point management, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities:

Inspection and Monitoring

  • Oversee delivery of audits and inspections in India in line with GWI policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all inspections and audits are conducted following the relevant GWI Standard and GWI SOPs
  • Create country-specific work instructions to facilitate implementation of global SOPs
  • Ensure timely completion of audits/inspections and timely completion of reports
  • Oversee scheduling process
  • Allocate workload to the IMC India team in coordination with the HR Department.
  • Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and consistency in the certification process; implement process improvements in cooperation with GWI
  • Ensure use of Chain Point, GoodWeaves audit management software
  • Ensure preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual reports and data snapshots for GW India and GWI as per requirement.
  • Provide support to GWI in improving policies andinspection and monitoring procedures as per need.
  • Implement GWI policies on conflicts of interest and ethics.

Quality Management

  • Manage all aspects of quality assurance in India, in cooperation with GWI
  • Ensure adequate technical review of inspection work
  • Identify challenges/barriers to the consistent application of the GWI Certification methodology and propose solutions
  • Ensure a high degree of inspector calibration on technical subjects
  • Manage implementation of IMC staff competency framework
  • Plan and conduct shadow audit of inspectors
  • Conduct performance reviews of inspectors, in cooperation with the HR Department
  • Identify training needs for inspectors; manage ongoing training and professional development, including conducting training for staff
  • Onboard new IMC staff
  • Support internal audits and external assessments and audits
  • Identify common mistakes, inspector calibration needs, and other quality issues through analysis of inspection data and other QA methods
  • Support implementation of the Certification Division Quality Management System, in line with ISO/IEC 17065

Communication with Internal and External Stakeholders

  • Ensure effective communication with exporter licensees as and when required.
  • Coordinate with the Remediation team of GoodWeave India to ensure effective implementation of policies and procedures on child labor and forced and bonded labor remediation.
  • Appropriately escalate issues regarding the certification process to relevant staff at GW India and GWI

Leadership

  • Keep the team motivated to do high-quality work
  • Ensure GoodWeaves mission and values are reflected in day-to-day operations
  • Mentor, and develop the second line of leadership within the inspection team in each region.



Required Candidate profile

  • Minimum 12 years relevant professional experience
  • Minimum 5 years experience conducting social compliance audits
  • Three years of experience managing audit or inspection processes
  • Three years of experience in a QA related function
  • Experience designing and implementing management systems
  • Knowledge of Indian labor laws, ILO Conventions, and international frameworks on labor and human rights
  • Demonstrated understanding of ISO/IEC 17065 certification processes or other ISO conformity assessment standards
  • Understanding supply chains of export-bound goods such as carpets, home textiles, and apparel and working conditions for workers in India.
  • Proven team management and leadership skills, result-driven, strategic, and organized.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively in India, especially North India.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with an ability to engage with multi-stakeholders and various levels of senior professionals, both internal and external.
  • Self-motivated individual with good attention to detail, business sense with good judgment, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong data management and analytical skills.
  • Ability to lead, train and mentor the team on a personal level.
  • Some important skills required are Project planning and execution, decision-making ability, trust-building in the team, persuasion skills, ability to align with the organizational values, giving and accepting feedback positively, and presentation skills.
