Position: Production Manager
Reporting to: Plant Manager
Place of work: Devanahalli, Bangalore
Job Purpose:
The Production Manager is to provide the leadership for the planning, coordination, and control of manufacturing processes and ensures goods and services are produced efficiently with the right cost and level of quality.
Position Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Manage daily production activity to fulfill customer demand, including manpower planning, operator training, performance monitoring, etc.
- Lead manufacturing function to support production by developing tools/ jigs/fixtures/ equipment/ software and manufacturing processes to achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost/productivity targets.
- Lead production supervisors, cell leaders, and direct labor to achieve customer satisfaction and internal targets.
- Utilize proven quality or Lean Manufacturing tools to drive continuous improvement on all aspects in manufacturing measured by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Develop and maintain work instructions and standardized work.
- Ensure manufacturing operations comply with Quality and Safety related certifications and management systems.
- Participate in new product development and introduction by providing input to Design for Manufacturing (DFM), designing manufacturing fixtures, training manpower, making prototypes, arranging production trial runs, etc.
- Work closely with the China Operations team to ensure best practices are shared between the sites.
- Oversee the production process, drawing up a production schedule. Ensure that the production is cost-effective, Decide what resources are required, Draft a timescale for the job, Estimate costs, and sets the quality standards
- Monitor the production processes and adjust schedules as needed. Take responsibility for the selection and maintenance of equipment. Monitor product standards and implement quality control programs
- Lead overall Facilities and Equipment maintenance efforts within the building.
- Liaise among different departments, e.g. suppliers, managers and work with them to implement the company's policies and goals.
- Drive the health and safety initiatives of the plant.
- Inspire the team of employees, review their performance periodically and identify and provide the developmental needs
Qualification & Experience and Competencies:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or related
- 5+ years experience in a similar position on a manufacturing plant with a wide knowledge of lean manufacturing, production processes, production indicators.
- Liking to work on the production floor, high communication skills at every level and empathy with the operative staff, ready for digital transformations and oriented to the use of data for decision making
- Hands of experience of driving Lean, continuous improvements initiatives; Six Sigma, Control Plan, SPC, FMEA, Standard Work, 5S, Kanban, etc.
- Proficient in modern management systems such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, etc.
- Knowledge of ERP systems and Proficient in using Microsoft Office software.
