Job Description
Lead Consultant Mainframe Developer
To provide operational, industry and thought leadership and expertise in the delivery of systems analysis, design, development, maintenance & ongoing support for application software.
The incumbent will help design technical solutions to business initiatives and support software engineers in developing the solution.
Responsibilities
- Analyse system requirements and develop technical design
- Provide input to or develop business systems solutions, estimates and specifications
- Develop, test, and maintain quality application software
- Support the application software by analysing and fixing problems
- Act in the role of Delivery Lead, Technical Lead, Subject Matter Expert, Analyst or Developer as required
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to other team members
- Challenge and mentor other team members by reviewing their output and accept responsibility for the quality and timeliness of the team s deliverables.
- Produce thorough and effective unit and system test plans and participate and/or support further testing phases
- Conform to quality assurance standards and agreed processes within the department
- Participate in and support the rollout of continuous improvement initiatives
- Provide technical advice to the business customers on business opportunities
- Identify technical improvements that will benefit the business
- Work collaboratively maintaining ongoing dialogue and relationships with Stakeholders as part of continued solution development and support.
- Demonstrate effective customer service behaviours
- Utilise Agile methodologies where appropriate in your work, proactively identify risks, blockers and constraints and work with leaders to resolve
Qualifications we seek in you
Minimum qualifications
- BE/B Tech/ MCA
Preferred qualifications
- HUON Protect Product knowledge is must
- A minimum 5 years Software Engineering experience
- Experience in a technical leadership role (desirable).
- Experience defining solutions in a mainframe environment (Mandatory)
- Experience with integration solutions (Web services, Mule, APIs) (desirable)
- Insurance or Financial Services knowledge (highly desirable)
- Ability to be the Technical Lead or Subject Matter Expert if appropriate
- Strong mainframe application software development experience (CICS, COBOL, DB2)
- Practical experience with the Compuware toolset (Expediter, Abend-Aid, FileAid for DB2, RDX) (optional, but preferred).
- Able to influence task/project direction by quantifying quality/risk to project/business context
- Strong skills in analysis, design, database modelling, diagnostics, and problem solving
- Strong Testing and quality skills. Automated testing experience (desirable)
- Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently or within a team framework, and in varying customer environments
- Strong time management, workload management and organisational skills
- Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision
