Inviting applications for the role of Principal Consultant Mainframe Developer
To provide operational, industry and thought leadership and expertise in the delivery of systems analysis, design, development, maintenance & ongoing support for application software.
The incumbent will help design technical solutions to business initiatives and support software engineers in developing the solution.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with other team members
- Act in the role of Subject Matter Expert or Analyst as required
- Provide timely and effective advice on progress and ability to meet service and solution deliverables within agreed expectations
- Provide input to or develop business systems solutions, estimates and specifications
- Assist with investigations into potential solutions, liaise with relevant technical experts and contribute to solution design and costing
- Analyse business / system requirements and develop technical design
- Provide technical leadership and advice to the team
- Ensure thorough and effective test plans are produced
- Ensure quality assurance standards and agreed processes are applied within the department team
- Ensure solution design is aligned with Policy & Pricing way of working and one client strategy
- Participate in and support the rollout of continuous improvement initiatives
- Identify technical improvements that will benefit the business
- Provide input into team process improvement initiatives
- Formulate and recommend changes and/or enhancements to client standard processes
- Work collaboratively maintaining ongoing dialogue and relationships with Stakeholders as part of continued solution development and support.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of systems and processes
- Demonstrate effective customer service behaviours
- Utilise Agile methodologies where appropriate in your work
- Challenge the development team on their delivery of quality, test coverage and assistance in the creation of development artefacts.
Qualifications we seek in you
Minimum qualifications- BE/B Tech/ MCA
- HUON Protect Product knowledge is must
- Work collaboratively to build and maintain constructive working relationships and engagement with Team Members, Stakeholders, Customers, Partners, Vendors and all levels of Management.
- A minimum 7 years Software Engineering experience with 2+ years operating in a technical leadership role.
- Experience defining solutions in a mainframe environment (Mandatory)
- Experience with integration solutions (Web services, Mule, APIs) required
- Insurance or Financial Services knowledge highly desirable
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert if appropriate
- Able to influence task/project direction by quantifying quality/risk to project/business context
- Database modelling and design skills.
- Strong analytical, design and consultative skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently or within a team framework, and in varying customer environments
- Strong time management, workload management and organisational skills
- Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision
- Protect (PAS) experience is highly regarded.
