Job Description
We are looking for Cloud Engineer with following details.
Job purpose
The job is for a high-performing, hands on DevOps engineer committed to the practices required to support critical customer facing platforms while driving continuous improvement and innovation. We are looking for skills that align with the Google defined Site Reliability Engineer - A software engineering background with complementary capabilities in networking, linux administration, security, and experience with cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure).
Main responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
- Owning the technical design of the automation technologies required for globally deploying, maintaining, and operating platform infrastructure.
- A strong affinity and experience implementing solutions for collecting, processing, aggregating, and displaying real-time quantitative service data.
- Coordinating delivery of our operational automation technologies
- Working closely with the application development and architecture teams to make informed, collaborative technical decisions.
- Engaging with multiple teams across networks, security, infrastructure, content delivery and quality assurance
- Finding simple, elegant, powerful and pragmatic solutions to complex problems.
- Wants to work according to devops principles, with full test automation and continuous integration and delivery, and using immutable infrastructure as code.
- Assist in root cause analysis for complex performance problems across multiple systems.
- Exhibit excellence in producing practical documentation for processes and features
Day to Day Functions:
- The technical design, delivery, and quality of the deployment automation pipeline.
- Setting and ensuring the highest development and operations standards are followed.
- Active monitoring of risks to site SLAs and overall delivery.
- Engaging with the Technical Leads to establish technical direction of applications and services.
- Management of DevOps priorities to deliver repeatable, continuous deployment capabilities.
- Actively challenge and refine design and delivery based on experience and domain knowledge
- Monitor for performance problems and direct support for problem resolution
- Consult with Technical Leads on cloud provider capabilities and best practices
Key Challenges:
- Working in a matrix and virtual environment (remote management)
- Working with several stakeholders and business units within project/company, and across multiple time zones
- Working with a global customer base and different cultures
- Managing stakeholders who are resource constrained and may be under committed to this initiative
- Working in a hybrid environment across legacy datacenters and multiple cloud providers
Essential skills, qualifications, and experience
- A strong software engineering or programming background. Any language is acceptable but prefer experience with one of the following: Java, JavaScript, Go or Python
- AWS Ops experience is a must.
- EC2, S3, VPC, Route53, RDS, ElasticSearch, ECS etc.
- Significant experience with Infrastructure as Code (IAC): Terraform or CloudFormation
- Jenkins/Azure DevOps Configuration and Pipeline management
- Significant experience with deployment automation, working with platforms for configuration management, provisioning and artifact repositories: Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Salt, etc.
- Experience with cloud hosted application-monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, New Relic, Elasticsearch and Kibana.
- Working familiarity with one or more NoSQL database platforms a plus - e.g. MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, DynamoDB, LDAP, etc.
- Experience with source controls systems such as Git and Stash.
- Experience with container architecture and technologies such as AWS ECS and Docker.
- Excellent collaboration skills across Development and Operations
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, both technical and non-technical.
- Experienced in designing scalable solutions, writing efficient code, optimizing performance and debugging issues
- Experience with Linux sysadmin tasks. Working knowledge of basic system level administration tools, networking, and diagnostics a plus.
- Good time management skills, ability to prioritize tasks effectively
