Technical Safety Engineers provide advice and support on all aspects of technical safety engineering including Safety Studies, Loss Prevention, Noise, Human Factors and Environmental studies. They are responsible for identifying, assessing and managing risks associated with operational modifications or a specific project to ensure a safe design and successful project delivery.
Typical duties
Identifies foreseeable hazards for modifications to production installations so that appropriate studies can be completed
Conducts risk assessments and risk reviews in accordance with company procedures
Reviews multi-discipline engineering documents to ensure that designs have been adopted which minimise potential risks
Represents the safety team at project kick-off meetings, progress and design review meetings for the project or change proposal designs
Provides advice and guidance to project and operational teams on the risk mitigation measures required for operational and integrity-related Technical / Process Safety issues
Contributes to the maintenance and update of relevant safety engineering standards
Work with specialist Technical Safety Engineering Contractors, including work planning and prioritization and budgetary control
Participates in technical safety reviews and audits in order to facilitate and ensures any gaps are addressed
Report writing
Reports any breaches of safety procedures to supervision / management
Actively participates in and promotes company health and safety campaigns, policies and procedures, and ensures personal safety and that of colleagues at all times
