Job Description

The increasing demands of digitally aware consumers necessitate quality documentation that covers all phases of software development and beyond. The Technical Writing team at Cybage has been providing high-precision product documentation services for more than 20 years. Our clientele includes some of the largest global companies such as Microsoft, Google, Mashery, Digital River, Tech Data, Fujifilm, TravelClick, MicroStrategy, and more.
We seek top-notch technical writers with good experience in documenting APIs, SDKs and deep cloud infrastructure knowledge. The ideal candidate will also collaborate closely with our state-of-the-art user experience team to go beyond traditional forms of product documentation to deliver a ground-breaking overall user experience.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work closely with engineers and product managers as the content for APIs and SDKs are developed in real-time
- Create and deliver accurate, high-quality customer-facing documentation on time
- Contribute to strategic initiatives around authoring environments, development processes, and automation tools
- Work along with the members of the technical content team; actively participate in content planning, content gathering, and problem-solving
- Collaborate with the user experience team to ensure that technical content including documentation, contextual help, UI text, and other forms of assistance are discoverable, usable, and pleasing to the customer
Required Skillset:
- 2 to 8 years of experience as a technical writer, including experience in developing API guides and Developer's guides
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in developing API and SDK documentation
- Experience in all phases of a TW project from planning to delivery
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Create high-quality and comprehensive technical and functional documentation deliverables.
- Write, edit, and perform production checks of all documentation deliverables.
- Gather requirements, interview SMEs, explore the product, read the existing referral sources.
- Create a content plan to set expectations on the scope of the document.
- Create suitable content elements like illustrated screenshots, diagrams, tabulated content, procedures, infographics, access points, and others. (Microsoft Visio, Snagit, Capture, etc.)
- Work independently on the assigned documentation tasks.
- Understand the business domain and project requirements through SME interactions, product walkthroughs, client calls, or engineering documents.
- Plan the review cycle, incorporates review comments from peers, SMEs, and clients on content.
- Create documentation project scope and effort estimation for the work required and deliver the work as per timelines.
- Attend status and common meetings of the project and works closely with the team.
- An eye for detail along with good self-review skills.
- Good knowledge of industry-standard authoring tools, graphics tools, and publishing tools. (MadCap Flare, Adobe RoboHelp, Adobe FrameMaker, etc.)
- Take end-to-end ownership of documentation tasks from planning to delivery.
- Experience in all the phases of DDLC
- Experience in working with geographically distributed teams.
- Interviewing skills with SMEs on technical data collection.
- Basics of one of the languages like C basics OR Java & basics of HTML, CSS, XML, etc. will be a plus to read and understand code to create technical documentation.
Qualifications:
- Graduate or post-graduate degree from a recognized university in engineering, computer science or any other equivalent education
