Here is a glimpse of what you ll do:

Flex IT Enterprise Systems Operations Team is looking for talented professionals to fill an open position as MS SQL Database Administrator.

This position is part of Global Data and Analytics Operations Organization supporting Global & Regional Database Systems and responsible for supporting, maintaining and monitoring SQL Server database platform for different applications.

Here is some of what you ll need (required):

• The Database administrator is the first level of support and is responsible for
• Installation of SQL Server 2008 & above & Configure as per Guidelines recommended.
• Resolves at least 80% of calls routed to him/her, without having to dispatch to L2
• In-depth knowledge of troubleshooting scripts and knowledge of server topologies/configurations.
• Backup Database and Configure backups
• Restore of Databases from production to Test and vice versa (Refresh). And across servers
• Import and export data from a file.
• Support Existing Configured Replication, Log Shipping & SQL Clusters
• Review the Job executions; change Schedule of a job & Configure Jobs as Per Guidelines.
• Review available free space,
• Decision Making to Perform Shirking & truncating files when Necessary.
• Validate the performance of a new Object and release to production environment
• Creating Users & Grant, Remove, Change Permissions to users on SQL Server & Its Databases as per Request.
• Control & Supervising of DTS and SP in production
• Replication configuration
• DB Decommissioning
• Reboot the SQL Server instances & SQL Server Agent.
• Patch Analyzing
• Basic troubleshooting Skills that involves reviewing of Application, system & SQL Server Logs.
• Timely Escalation of issues.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL & MySQL towards installation & maintenance
• Basic knowledge on MySQL & PostgreSQL
• Provision MySQL instances in different environments

Here are a few of our preferred experiences:

• Minimum 3 5 years of hands on experience as DBA
• Strong administrative skill on SQL 2008 & above .
• Exposure to VMWare or Virtual Server/ Virtual PC would be added value
• Should have Hands on experience on Remote Monitoring of database servers
• Monitors production systems and provides 24x7 support for production related issues. This may include the maintenance of the application itself or the correction of damaged/corrupted data within the file structures.
• Continually analyzes the application using debugging tools, error logs, scripts and backup reports in order to optimize performance.
• Knowledge of hardware platforms like HP (Proliant servers) and Dell (PowerEdge series) is also an added value
• Works with the Asia, US and UK Teams for monthly Data Center shut down activities.
• Experience with database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and high availability concepts.
• Capacity planning, monitoring, auditing, database/application performance optimization and other tasks.
• 4 Year degree desirable
• Any credited Technical Diploma/Degree required Microsoft Certifications MCSA in SQL 2012/2014 with 3 years of relevant experience

Other skills:

• Added value if completed MCSA in SQL 2012/2016
• Ability to work with independently and has excellent troubleshooting abilities.
• Very good communication, interpersonal, and team work skills.
• Well organized, hard worker with strong documentation skills
