Job Description
Must have Oracle or Sql , Redshift+Maria DB or Neptune + Maria DB.
A strong AWS RDS database admin experience in Oracle/SQL/Neptune/Redshift & Maria Database Administration
- Ensuring availability and performance of databases
- Proactively monitor to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and problem solving of DB issues
- Responsible for improvement and maintenance of databases and Resources to include rollout and upgrades.
- Responsible for implementation and release of changes according to agreed timescales and costs.
Key Responsibility
RDS Platform Management - RDS platform installation, OS, patch management with clinet
- Coordination with client about Database Provisioning & Management - Definition of RDS instance requirements (defining compliance, engine type, instance class, license deployment, region, availability zones, subnet groups, security groups, etc.) - Initial setup, Maintain Security Key, Configure event subscriptions, backups & snapshots
- Database creation and commissioning.
- Running and maintaining scripts
- Schema and tables support during RUN time
- Supporting RDS instance during run
- Design of parameter groups (modify existing custom parameter groups)
- Create Modify parameter groups (utilizing Applications owner designs modifications)
- Design of option groups (modify existing custom parameter groups)
- Create Modify option groups (utilizing Applications owner designs modifications)
- Coordinate with client for Purchasing reserved nodes
- Manage reserved nodes in Takedas-specific RDS Instances- ongoing management
- Coordinate with client for Modify Instance configuration parameters (instance class, engine type, networking parameters, multi-AZ, security, storageetc.)
- Backup & Recovery - Coordinate with cloud team for Backup and recovery tasks, automated backup window
- Coordinate with cloud support team for ad-hoc manual final /restores
- Administrative Tasks: Monitoring - Service availability / health check / error monitoring console on-going management
- Ongoing management of instance-based alerts (SNS, email, text, etc. based on CloudWatch alerts CloudWatch logs)
- Administrative Tasks: Performance Tuning - Database performance tuning and optimization, Troubleshoot slow RDS database(s)
- Administrative Tasks: Troubleshooting - Use logs and other debugging tools to troubleshoot problems reported, Troubleshoot of RDS instance(s), Coordinate with AWS support for resolution of issues
Work Experience:
- Strong AWS RDS (Oracle/Sql/Redshift/Neptune & maria) experience in production environements
- Configuration and support of complex DB systems in AWS RDS environment
- Practical experience in monitoring.
- Knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices .
Professional attributes:
- Take part in 24x7 Shift Rotations including Morning ,Evening and Night Shifts.
- Work out of hours evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays at reasonable request to perform production changes
- Travel to other locations when required
- Team leading and people management capabilities
- Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, Technical documentation skills.
- Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment .
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Knowledge on ITIL standard and best practices
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
